About The Position

Fivetran and dbt Labs are merging, creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help organizations unlock the full value of their data. This role is for a People Business Partner / Senior People Business Partner to join the Regional HRBP team and support managers across North America. This is a new Regional HRBP model, so the role will involve helping to build and define it. The position will collaborate with Functional HRBPs and other People team partners, contributing to the development of simpler and more effective ways of working as the company grows. The role reports to the Director, Regional HR Business Partners.

Requirements

  • Experience as a People/HR Business Partner or in a similar role coaching managers and handling significant people and team challenges.
  • Strong working knowledge of US employment practices.
  • Experience supporting employees across multiple US states is strongly preferred; broader North American experience is a plus.
  • Proven ability to coach managers effectively, offering support while also providing necessary feedback and guidance.
  • Demonstrated good judgment in assessing situations, identifying risks, and recommending actions.
  • Agility to adapt quickly to changing priorities, organizations, and plans.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make progress without fully defined processes or boundaries.
  • Interest in understanding the business context of people-related issues.
  • Ability to work independently while also knowing when to collaborate, seek input, or escalate issues.
  • Aptitude for noticing patterns and understanding the underlying causes of issues.
  • Experience working across teams, functions, and time zones in a distributed company.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with data (engagement, performance, attrition, workforce) to investigate problems or challenge assumptions.
  • Experience with or interest in People analytics or visualization tools.
  • Interest in AI and its potential impact on People team and manager workflows.
  • Experience building or improving processes rather than solely operating within established models.
  • Experience navigating mergers, integrations, rapid growth, or significant organizational change.

Responsibilities

  • Coach managers on performance, feedback, development, conflict, team dynamics, and difficult people decisions to help them become better managers.
  • Investigate and understand the root cause of issues, which may initially appear as performance problems, by asking questions and understanding context.
  • Lead performance and employee relations work across North America, balancing judgment, employee experience, business needs, consistency, and risk, knowing when to involve Legal or other People partners.
  • Collaborate with managers on team health, engagement, talent, performance, and change, utilizing feedback and data.
  • Identify patterns and themes across teams, using data to understand recurring issues and risks, and escalating them to the appropriate people.
  • Work closely with Functional HRBPs, combining their functional and leadership context with insights from regional managers, employees, and teams.
  • Contribute to building and refining the new Regional HRBP model by identifying effective approaches and challenging ineffective ones.
  • Explore opportunities for technology, automation, and AI to streamline repetitive tasks or improve decision-making in People operations.
