About The Position

Our Denver office has a new opportunity for a Payroll Senior Specialist with payroll experience to join our growth-oriented professional engineering and environmental consulting office. In this role you will report to the Payroll Manager and will work closely alongside a Payroll Lead. Please note that this role must be located in the Denver, CO area, and available to work a hybrid schedule at our Lakewood, CO office location. The Sr. Payroll Specialist role will be responsible for leading the payroll function within the organization. The role will manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The role will involve overseeing time tracking systems, ensuring that all employee hours are accurately recorded and approved. The role will handle complex payroll calculations, including bonuses, commissions, and other special payments. Additionally, the role will prepare and file payroll tax returns, staying informed about changes in tax legislation. This role will generate comprehensive internal and external reports, providing valuable insights to senior management. Maintaining detailed payroll records and managing payroll systems will be critical, as well as effectively communicating with employees regarding payroll matters.

Requirements

  • Proven skill in payroll processing and time tracking management.
  • Ability to handle internal and external reporting with proficiency.
  • Excellent knowledge of tax filing and compliance procedures.
  • Strong record-keeping ability and system management skills.
  • High level of interpersonal communication skills.
  • Typically, a minimum of 4 years of payroll or relevant experience.
  • Proven track record in maintaining compliance and efficient record keeping.
  • An associate's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • A Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform payroll processing tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Manage time tracking for employees and ensure correct data entry.
  • Conduct regular internal and external reporting.

  • Maintain compliance with payroll and taxation regulations.
  • Handle record keeping responsibilities diligently.
  • Manage payroll system efficiently and troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication with employees and cross-functional teams regarding payroll related inquiries.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
  • May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.
