About The Position

The Sr. Payroll Administrator oversees end-to-end payroll processes using SuccessFactors software platform, with a focus on multi-state payroll tax administration and compliance. This role manages federal, state, and local tax calculations, withholdings, remittances, and filing of required tax reports. Additionally, the Sr. Payroll Administrator provides support to HR/Finance teams, maintains data integrity, and drives process improvements. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll and payroll tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance while optimizing payroll operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5 - 7 years of proven experience as a Payroll Administrator or in a similar payroll role.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in using payroll software, preferably with experience in SuccessFactors Payroll or other similar HRIS systems.
  • Familiarity with payroll tax laws, reporting obligations, and year-end processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, calculations, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Excellent communication and people skills to interact with employees, managers, and external entities.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential employee information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Initiative-taking mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • SAP, EC (Employee Central), and ECP (Employee Central Payroll) experience a plus.
  • Has an in-depth understanding of financial services and sub and near prime lending preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the complete payroll cycle, including collecting and reviewing time and attendance data, calculating wages, and processing payroll accurately and on time.
  • Review, enter, and maintain employee information, tax withholding details, and direct deposit data in the SuccessFactors Payroll system.
  • Validate payroll inputs for accuracy, including new hires, terminations, promotions, pay adjustments, and other relevant changes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable payroll laws, tax regulations, and employment contracts.
  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to ensure payroll accuracy and address any discrepancies or errors promptly.
  • Develop and generate payroll reports, including earnings statements, tax reports for distribution to employees, management, and external government entities.
  • Stay updated and interpret payroll laws, regulations, tax requirements, and reporting obligations at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely payroll tax filings, including tax withholdings, quarterly reports, and year-end tax forms.
  • Participates in payroll-related audits, including responding to inquiries and providing necessary documentation.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records to support payroll transactions and compliance efforts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll inquiries, concerns, and issue resolution.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on payroll-related matters, such as pay deductions and taxes.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to communicate changes in payroll policies, procedures, and deadlines to employees.
  • Assist employees with accessing and navigating the SuccessFactors Payroll self-service portal.
  • Manage and maintain the SuccessFactors Payroll system, including configuration updates, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with System Administrators and vendor support to address system-related concerns, implement enhancements, and ensure system integrity.
  • Participate in testing and implementation of system updates, upgrades, or new functionalities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the payroll system.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as HR, Finance, and IT, to ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems.
  • Work closely with HR and Finance teams to reconcile payroll data with general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on payroll-related processes, issues, and improvements.
