About The Position

Peraton is currently seeking an experienced Network Unified Collaboration (UC) Engineer to join our team in Wiesbaden, Germany. In this role, as the Network UC Engineer, you will be joining and working with the U.S. Army Europe Regional Cyber Center (RCC-E). You will be responsible for designing, deploying, maintaining, optimizing, and securing the Cisco Unified Communications (UC) infrastructure footprint for the RCC-E. This includes performing daily health checks, proactive monitoring, and Tier-3 troubleshooting for the Cisco Collaboration Suite (CUCM, Unity, UCCX, CER, Expressways, CUBEs) to ensure 99.9% availability for mission-critical voice services. You will also configure and maintain SIP trunks, H.323 gateways, SRST, CUBE, and MS Teams/Google Cloud Platform configurations for integration with various cloud and tactical voice networks. Additionally, you will manage and maintain Cisco IOS Voice Gateways, serve as the functional lead for UC-related identity tasks within Cisco ISE, provide operational support for multi-platform video environments, and ensure DISA STIG compliance across all UC and Video assets. The role involves integrating collaboration services with Active Directory, PKI/certificate authorities, Cloud platforms, and DNS, providing Tier 3 escalation support, and mentoring team members. You will also act as a technical liaison between the UC team and Network Automation Operations, provide technical input for Change Management boards, and assist in documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs). Lifecycle support includes managing "Day-2" operations such as user provisioning, certificate renewals, and capacity monitoring. You will maintain up-to-date architecture diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs, and participate in formal change-control processes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years will be considered in lieu of the bachelors degree requirement.
Requires at least one of the following certifications: SecurityX, CASP+, CCNA, CCNP Security, CCSP, GCED, GCIA, GCLD, GDSA
Minimum of 5 years administering the Cisco Collaboration stack (CUCM, UCCX, Unity Connection, CER).
Proven experience maintaining Cisco Expressways, Voice Gateways (ISR/VG), Analog Gateways, and Cisco Unified Border Elements (CUBEs).
Proficiency in Cisco ISE and 802.1X protocols.
Ability to manage endpoint identity policies, troubleshoot authentication/authorization issues for UC devices, and ensure accurate hardware profiling within the network access architecture.
Strong command of Campus Routing and Switching (Cisco Catalyst/Nexus).
Ability to diagnose and resolve Layer 2 issues (VLANs, Spanning Tree, PoE) and Layer 3 issues (OSPF/BGP, QoS/DSCP) impacting voice and video traffic.
Experience supporting multi‑vendor video solutions (MS Teams Rooms, Webex, Polycom) and ensuring interoperability between legacy VTC hardware and modern cloud collaboration platforms.
Experience maintaining Network Topology Diagrams (Visio), port/cable maps, system SOPs, configuration backups, version control, and formal change‑management records for audit readiness and disaster recovery.
Deep understanding of SIP, including message flows, call negotiation, early media, and troubleshooting methodologies.
Practical experience with major SBC platforms: Cisco CUBE, Ribbon, Audio codecs.
Understanding of network security principles (ACLs, NAT, IPS/IDS).
Knowledge of Cisco ISE policies, 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, TrustSec, Software‑Defined Access.
Familiarity with command‑line interfaces (e.g., TMSH), networking concepts/protocols, and security principles.
Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, and communication capabilities.
Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, mission‑critical environments.
U.S. citizenship required.
Active DoD Secret security clearance required.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, maintain, optimize, and secure the Cisco Unified Communications (UC) infrastructure footprint for the RCC-E.
Perform daily health checks, proactive monitoring, and Tier-3 troubleshooting for the Cisco Collaboration Suite (CUCM, Unity, UCCX, CER, Expressways, CUBEs).
Ensure 99.9% availability for mission-critical voice services across the AORs.
Configure and maintain SIP trunks, H.323 gateways, SRST, CUBE, and MS Teams trunk configurations for integration with Army Azure cloud or tactical voice networks.
Configure and maintain SIP trunks, H.323 gateways, SRST, CUBE, and Google Cloud Platform configurations for integration with DISA or tactical voice networks.
Manage and maintain Cisco IOS Voice Gateways (SIP/SRTP).
Execute configuration updates, firmware patches, and dial-plan optimizations to ensure secure and reliable call routing.
Serve as the functional lead for UC-related identity tasks within Cisco ISE.
Maintain 802.1X port security for collaboration endpoints and troubleshoot authentication failures to ensure secure network access.
Provide operational support for multi-platform video environments including MS Teams Rooms (MTR) and Cisco Webex.
Manage SBC connectivity for Direct Routing and ensure seamless interoperability between VTC hardware and software codecs.
Support VTC operations including scheduling, endpoint support, and bridging through tactical and RHN network for secure and nonsecure VTC calls.
Implement and maintain DISA STIG compliance across all UC and Video assets.
Collaborate with the Security team to remediate vulnerabilities and ensure the UC posture meets Army Top-Level Architecture (ATLA) standards.
Integrate collaboration services with Active Directory, PKI/certificate authorities, Cloud platforms and DNS for secure authentication and service delivery.
Provide Tier 3 escalation support and mentor other team members on UC technologies.
Act as the technical liaison between the UC team and the Network Automation Operations pillars.
Provide technical input for Change Management boards and assist in the documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Manage the "Day-2" operations of the UC infrastructure, including user provisioning, certificate renewals, and capacity monitoring of SIP trunks and VTC bridges.
Maintain up-to-date architecture diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in formal change-control processes.
