Sr. Natural Gas Prop Trader
About The Position
The Proprietary Natural Gas Trader builds and trades NextEra Energy Marketing’s physical gas portfolio in the Permian and Southwest region. The role requires strong competency in trading strategies, pipeline rules, physical market knowledge, financial products, and regulatory policies. The position trades energy commodities, options, heat rates, and energy products in various markets, with trade tenures ranging from intraday through five years depending on the assigned book. The trader also creates markets for origination and asset optimization groups and manages a profitable proprietary trading book. After-hours and weekend work may be required as needed.
Requirements
- High school graduation or GED.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities
- Perform individual research.
- Execute profitable deals.
- Manage deal entry.
- Complete monthly reconciliations.
- Transact physical gas, transport, storage, and financial basis.
- Create markets for origination and asset optimization groups.
- Apply knowledge of Texas and Southwest natural gas infrastructure.
- Manage a profitable proprietary trading book.
- Apply knowledge of multiple trading transaction systems.
- Make markets for asset optimization groups responsible for hedging the company's nationwide generation portfolio.
- Train less experienced traders.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
