Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or High School Diploma or GED with relevant aviation /aerospace work experience in Technical or aviation management discipline
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or aviation management discipline and/or FAA Airframe and Powerplant License.
  • 5 years of aircraft maintenance industry experience
  • 5 years in a leadership role
  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to maintenance programs, and aircraft maintenance planning processes and aircraft routing
  • Strong people and time management skills
  • Strong relationship and collaboration skills
  • Proven organization and leadership skills with the ability to lead and maintain strong, productive teams and working relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of guiding teams through continuous improvement focused initiatives
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented, proactive self-starter demonstrating a positive, can-do attitude

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Line Maintenance Field Planning Team in scheduling all routine and non-routine maintenance tasks at United's Line Maintenance stations to ensure all required items are scheduled and accomplished within their maintenance program time limits.
  • Develops and fosters positive cross-departmental relationships in Technical Operations, NOC and Network Planning and provides subject matter expertise to those departments in support of initiatives, inquiries, and projects.
  • Establishes and institutionalizes Field Planning policies and procedures in SOPs and for developing internal audits to maintain compliance.
  • Requires a technology-based and continuous improvement mindset able to define requirements, test, implement and train the Field Planning Team on new software platforms and to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Provide direction and oversight of the Field Planning team in the (1) preparation, review and adjustment of work packages for Line Maintenance for all scheduled and nonroutine maintenance requirements at United's Line Maintenance stations; and (2) coordination of daily Field Planning workload requirements between internal and external departments to ensure required paperwork, materials, tooling, labor, and facilities are made available to minimize operational impact and ensure the successful, on-time completion of all planned workload while maintaining focus on reliability, cost and daily operational performance.
  • Establish and implement (1) Field Planning departmental policies and procedures and institutionalize them in Field Planning SOPs; and (2) appropriate internal audit practices to ensure compliance to Field Planning SOPs and the GMM to maintain the airworthiness of all aircraft related to the on-time accomplishment of all planned maintenance activities and Company-directed programs.
  • Lead all aspects of the development and implementation of Field Planning AMTS modules to support the roadmap.
  • Evaluate Field Planning processes, identify gaps, develop process and resource improvements, monitor those changes for effectiveness, and adjust as needed.
  • Develop the team's overall knowledge, skills, and capabilities as well as those of the direct reports and individual planners.
  • Create relevant KPIs and their associated metrics and set goals for the team and individuals.
  • Set and communicate job performance expectations, monitor performance, coach when appropriate, and recognize desired results.
  • Evaluate future planned workloads for required resources to optimize labor and facilities to support future flight schedules.
  • Manage future planned maintenance task yields and station capacity for optimal utilization of available station resources.
  • Coordinate with the Technical Operations point of contact for line maintenance budgeting and staffing comparison.
  • Responsible for the Company’s key corporate initiative for paperless / wireless deployment and key metrics reporting.
