About The Position

The Sr. Member Solutions Specialist (bankruptcy) is responsible for handling all notifications, documents, calls, hearings, and legal filings related to bankruptcy when member files. They ensure Unitus meets and upholds the federal bankruptcy laws protecting our members while taking all necessary steps to protect the assets and collateral and helping to mitigate losses to the organization. They would be expected to work with members, legal counsel, trustees, and the court on a regular basis in addition to supporting the Member Solutions team with inbound calls and additional tasks as needed, ensuring our commitment for unparalleled service – the kind that creates the Unitus difference. This position is on-site at Unitus Business Center, Tigard. Hybrid schedules are available after training completion.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent certificate
- A minimum of 6 years related experience in a financial institution, including current knowledge of debt collection practices in consumer and real estate loans.
- Experience in bankruptcy, repossession, judgements, small claims, hardship modifications, charge-off and recovery.
Nice To Haves
- Financial statement understanding and analysis experience would be preferred.
- Formal certification or education related to the collections field is a plus.
- Bilingual language skills would be useful but not required.
Responsibilities
- Complete moderate/advanced functions pertaining to delinquency/default of a variety of loans to ensure payments, recovery, problem resolution, and protection of the Credit Union’s interests.
- Monitor accounts and perform follow up as needed to ensure payments are received, including pay-by-phone for members.
- Make appropriate referrals for repossession, charge-off, and referral to outside agencies.
- Provide backup Sr. Specialist team with support for bankruptcy, repossession, hardship modifications, and/or charge-off and recovery assignments.
- Handle negative share situations in fraud and deceased cases.
- Maintain spreadsheets for repossessions and write-offs.
- Balance GLs for write-off, negative share write-off, and pay-by-phone processing.
- Meet department goals for delinquency, write-off, and recovery, while handling a high workload and call volume.
