About The Position

The Sr. Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for implementing engineering projects, including Construction Documents, Coordination with other disciplines, Permitting, Bidding and Construction Administration in accordance with client requirements and code. This role ensures a high level of quality assurance on the product, such as Construction documents, specifications, and RFI responses. The individual will research and develop the latest designs in coordination with vendors, senior engineers, and online resources. They will possess excellent knowledge of discipline-specific and other building codes, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good leadership skills are required to educate clients on design and project requirements. The engineer will meet with the Project Architect and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues. They will estimate discipline man-hours required for design, serve as the main point of contact for projects with clients, contractors, and consultants with limited input from management, and ensure coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines. The role oversees the design and production of engineering construction documents and specifications, maintaining Cuhaci & Peterson and/or client standards. The engineer will anticipate and resolve issues, provide ongoing quality control, obtain and perform peer reviews of documents, and oversee project budget setup and completion within allotted time. They will communicate owner revisions and RFIs, assist in representing the client’s interests at public hearings and meetings, and provide customer service to maintain client relationships. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and training engineering designers to produce high-quality construction documents within budget. Additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 10-15 years of work experience as a licensed engineer
  • Engineer of Record in several states
  • Excellent knowledge of discipline specific codes and other building codes

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring high level of quality assurance on the product i.e., Construction documents, specifications, RFI responses etc.
  • Completing the job requirement of Project Engineer successfully.
  • Researching, developing and keeping updated with latest design in coordination with vendor, senior engineer and other online resources.
  • Meeting with the Project Architect and Project Manager to discuss the design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues.
  • Estimating discipline man-hours required to complete the design requirements of a project.
  • Serving as the main point of contact for a project or series of projects with one or several clients, the contractor and the consultants with limited input required from the Project Manager or Principle.
  • Ensuring coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Overseeing the design and production of engineering construction documents and specifications for the projects/programs.
  • Maintaining Cuhaci & Peterson and/or the client’s standards.
