If you want to push the boundaries of materials science and engineering to create next generation technology, join us to deliver material innovation that changes the world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4-7 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis and/or Design for Excellence principle
  • Demonstrated experience designing mechanical systems using motors, actuators, bearings, guides, linkages, or motion mechanisms.
  • Experience taking designs from concept through prototype, qualification, and production release.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot difficult mechanical issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the Applied Materials product life cycle, including prototyping, packaging, material selection and manufacturing methods
  • Experience designing semiconductor, display, automation, robotics, or capital-equipment systems.
  • Experience with vacuum-compatible mechanisms, cleanroom equipment, particle-sensitive systems, or high-temperature hardware.
  • Experience with servo motors, closed-loop stepper motors, linear actuators, ball screws, brakes, encoders, and motion-control hardware.
  • Experience defining motion profiles and calculating torque, force, acceleration, payload, stiffness, and mechanism life.
  • Experience with NX, Inventor or comparable CAD and motion-analysis software.
  • Professional proficiency in Korean or Japanese or both is preferred because the role may collaborate directly with suppliers and engineering teams in Korea or Japan; it is not required.
  • Conduct FEA structural and thermal simulation and how to convert results to actual product release is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and troubleshoot a variety of difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision
  • Define, coordinate, perform and document engineering test reports
  • Develop, design, or modify mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, or drawings/specifications of difficult scope
  • Perform engineering analysis of difficult scope with limited supervision
  • Technically lead or execute projects; develop key suppliers and generate mechanical product specifications
  • Design, develop and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing and associated processes; enable the handling, assembly and/or disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies; establish standards across all operational processes
  • Implement concepts for a variety of complex product issues and mechanical solutions
  • Clearly communicate complex or sensitive information; build consensus

Benefits
