About The Position

We’re seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will support high-impact work involving HVAC, energy systems, decarbonization, and building performance while collaborating with experienced engineers and project stakeholders. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to projects that improve building efficiency, resiliency, and long-term performance. Lead the development of technically sound mechanical engineering solutions for building and energy-focused projects, applying advanced engineering judgment to evaluate system approaches and deliver practical designs that align with project goals.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in building engineering, energy infrastructure, or a related discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Active New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience supporting decarbonization and electrification projects and energy-focused building initiatives.
  • Knowledge of building energy analysis and energy performance evaluation.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD for mechanical design and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of applicable mechanical codes, industry standards, and utility requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical assignments, communicate engineering recommendations, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydronic, district energy, geothermal, and other building mechanical system designs for new construction, renovations, and infrastructure projects.
  • Perform HVAC system and mechanical design calculations, field investigations, and existing-conditions documentation to support engineering decisions.
  • Evaluate design options and cost-benefit considerations to identify practical approaches for energy efficiency, system performance, and project objectives.
  • Prepare and review construction documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with project teams while ensuring alignment with applicable building codes, standards, and utility requirements.
