About The Position

The Mechanical Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical components, assemblies, and systems used in manufacturing equipment, industrial machinery, or engineered products. This role collaborates closely with engineering, production, quality, and project management teams to create detailed designs that meet performance, cost, manufacturability, and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field.
  • 7+ years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing, industrial equipment, process systems, or engineered products environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication, machining, sheet metal, welding, and assembly processes.
  • Experience creating complex engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Develop mechanical designs for new products, equipment, and system improvements.
  • Interpret engineering requirements and convert concepts into manufacturable designs.
  • Generate bills of materials (BOMs), design documentation, and engineering change notices (ECNs).
  • Perform design calculations and tolerance analyses to ensure functionality and reliability.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to resolve design and production issues.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to identify components and optimize designs.
  • Review designs for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on cost reduction, quality improvement, and manufacturability.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation.
