We are looking for a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to join us in San Jose, CA, to support new and existing RF Active (RF converters, amplifiers and oscillators) and Passive (filters, IMUXs and OMUXs) Subsystems projects. This role is critical in the development of new satellites, these subsystems are the building blocks of complex satellites. Getting the right design of these sub-systems is a major driver of cost and schedule on every project. In this role, you will be designing and documenting the assigned RF subsystem by interfacing with RF engineers and manufacturing engineers, among other disciplines to develop the required performance. You will follow the hardware through the development, manufacturing, and test phases, acting as a Lanteris Space technical expert on the subsystem. You will report progress and issues to your management team.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5 years related working experience required.
  • A masters degree may be substituted for two years of experience.
  • Experience with CREO 3D design

  • Thorough knowledge in a specific engineering or scientific field in RF technologies and engineering.
  • Has performed structural and/or thermal analyses.
  • Provide functional guidance to personnel assigned to assist.
  • Receives assignments with limited supervision.
  • Represents the company to customers and/or vendors in providing solutions for technical problems.
  • Experience working with multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Contribute to major technical proposal efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the Mechanical Design Engineer for a variety of RF subsystems.
  • Determine applicable specifications for each design, development, test, and/or production activity.
  • Provides technical consultation to management and to other engineering and scientific personnel.
  • Designs, Documents and reports on engineering progress on assigned projects.
  • Provide technical analysis and recommendations.
  • Prepares and delivers briefings and issues reports on activities, analyses, experiments, and all work performed.
  • Introduce innovative and creative techniques in area of specialty.
