Chemours is seeking a U.S. Tax Operations Senior Manager to join our growing team. This position will be available at the Wilmington, DE Headquarters (HYBRID) and report directly to the U.S. Tax Operations Senior Director. The U.S. Tax Operations Senior Manager is responsible for managing key aspects of the Company's U.S. income tax accounting, compliance, tax controversy, and tax operations activities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely U.S. tax reporting and compliance, supporting tax risk management initiatives, and driving continuous improvement of tax processes, controls, and technology solutions. The Senior Manager oversees the execution of quarterly and annual U.S. income tax provision processes under ASC 740, manages federal and state income tax compliance activities, supports tax audits and controversy matters, and collaborates across the organization to address tax-related business needs. This position works closely with finance, accounting, treasury, legal, business, and international tax teams to support strategic initiatives, ensure compliance with evolving tax regulations, and identify opportunities to enhance tax operations. The successful candidate will be an experienced tax professional with strong technical expertise in U.S. income taxation and tax accounting, demonstrated success managing complex tax processes, and a proven ability to lead teams and collaborate across a multinational organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to influence stakeholders while supporting the strategic objectives established by Tax Leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive tax experience within a Big Four accounting firm, large multinational corporation, or a combination thereof.
  • Demonstrated experience managing U.S. corporate income tax accounting and compliance processes within a publicly traded multinational company.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state corporate income taxation and ASC 740 tax accounting requirements.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex tax provision and compliance processes in a multinational environment.
  • Experience supporting IRS and state tax audits, controversy matters, and tax risk management initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and influence stakeholders across finance and business functions.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in tax technology and financial systems, including OneSource, SAP, OneStream, and related tax reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Company's quarterly and annual U.S. income tax provision process under ASC 740, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of current and deferred tax calculations, tax account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Review analyses of effective tax rate drivers, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, and other significant tax accounting matters.
  • Oversee U.S. FIN 48 analyses and related documentation.
  • Partner with Corporate Finance and FP&A teams on U.S. tax forecasting, budgeting, and planning activities.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of U.S. legislative, regulatory, and accounting developments on the Company's tax accounting and reporting positions.
  • Manage U.S. federal, state, and local income and franchise tax compliance activities through internal resources and co-sourced service providers.
  • Execute compliance processes and priorities to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee U.S. return-to-provision analyses, tax basis balance sheet processes, and related reporting requirements.
  • Ensure timely completion of U.S. estimated tax payments, extensions, tax elections, and other compliance obligations.
  • Support oversight of tax data collection, validation, and governance processes supporting U.S. compliance and reporting activities.
  • Monitor evolving state tax developments and filing requirements and assess impacts on the Company.
  • Support tax planning and business initiatives through compliance-related analysis and tax data insights.
  • Manage U.S. tax controversy activities and support federal, state, and local income tax examinations.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for IRS audits, state examinations, appeals, and significant tax authority inquiries.
  • Coordinate responses to Information Document Requests (IDRs), audit notices, and tax authority communications.
  • Support the development of technical positions, audit defense strategies, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors, legal counsel, and audit teams to support favorable outcomes and minimize risk.
  • Provide regular updates to Tax Leadership regarding audit developments, exposures, reserves, and risk assessments.
  • Oversee statute monitoring and governance processes associated with ongoing examinations.
  • Support and enhance the U.S. tax control framework supporting SOX compliance and income tax reporting.
  • Drive tax technology, automation, and process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and data quality.
  • Support implementation and optimization of tax provision, compliance, and data management technologies.
  • Monitor performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement across tax operations.
  • Promote best practices in process governance, documentation, and risk management.
  • Partner with finance, accounting, treasury, legal, HR, and business teams to ensure appropriate tax treatment of business transactions and initiatives.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, legal entity changes, and strategic projects from a U.S. tax operations perspective.
  • Collaborate closely with the International Tax, Transfer Pricing, and Tax Planning teams to ensure alignment across global tax objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding tax impacts of legislative changes and emerging business developments.
  • Partner with leadership and business stakeholders on tax risk management and operational tax matters.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of tax professionals responsible for U.S. tax accounting, compliance, and controversy matters.
  • Support employee engagement, succession planning, performance management, and talent development initiatives.
  • Manage resource allocation and workload prioritization across compliance, provision, and strategic projects.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Present key tax metrics, risks, project updates, and business matters to Tax Leadership and Finance Leadership.
  • Support Tax Leadership in executing departmental priorities, operational objectives, and strategic initiatives.
