Responsibilities

  • Own the strategic adoption and execution of AI-enhanced coding methodologies across software development teams
  • Lead the definition, development, and scaling of agentic workflows that apply autonomous or semi-autonomous agents to multi-step engineering tasks.
  • Translate high-level productivity and quality goals into executable AI and agent-driven programs with clear ownership, milestones, and success criteria.
  • Guide teams in designing human‑and‑AI collaborative systems with well‑defined abstractions, guardrails, and interfaces between engineers and agents.
  • Ensure agentic and AI‑assisted workflows deliver measurable improvements in engineering velocity, code quality, reliability, and developer experience.
  • Lead and manage a large, multi‑team organization of senior performance engineers, specialists, and technical leads.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop top‑tier performance engineering talent.
  • Build strong first‑line and second‑line leadership with durable succession plans.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and data‑driven decision making.
  • Ensure engineers are mentored, challenged, and aligned with SPE priorities and AMD business goals.
  • Own end‑to‑end execution of SPE performance optimization programs across client workloads, including: Productivity, browser, creator, workstation, and emerging workloads; Benchmark‑relevant and real‑world usage scenarios
  • Translate high‑level performance goals into executable programs with clear ownership, milestones, and success criteria.
  • Ensure optimization efforts deliver measurable improvements in performance, performance‑per‑watt, responsiveness, and efficiency.
  • Drive execution of SPE’s workload and benchmark strategy, ensuring the right workloads are selected, analyzed, and optimized.
  • Maintain rigor, credibility, and defensibility in benchmark and workload methodologies.
  • Oversee teams performing: Root‑cause analysis using profiling, tracing, and performance counters; Correlation of benchmark behavior to real‑world application performance
  • Ensure all SPE outputs are explainable, actionable, and trusted by internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Partner closely with architecture, platform, OS, power management, and product management teams.
  • Ensure SPE insights directly influence: Client product requirements; Platform and microarchitecture tradeoffs; Launch readiness and competitive positioning
  • Represent SPE in senior‑level technical and business forums where performance outcomes materially affect decision‑making.
  • Build and evolve operating mechanisms to support SPE growth, including: Project intake and prioritization; Resource allocation across competing initiatives; Progress tracking and risk management
