Sr Manager Risk & Insurance
About The Position
The primary purpose of the Sr. Manager, Risk and Insurance, is to serve as the lead steward of risk management for MGM Resorts International's premier entertainment properties. This role is dedicated to protecting the enterprise by mitigating liability, optimizing insurance coverage, and enforcing SOPs aimed at claim prevention, loss control, and early resolution. Through strategic planning, hands-on event support, and robust collaboration with internal and external partners, this position ensures the continued success and resilience of operations. The Sr. Manager will also be responsible for procuring insurance for the Arenas and other lines of business and will manage the company's loss control efforts in collaboration with internal stakeholders, Brokers, and insurance carriers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ Years of Prior Relevant Experience in Risk Management, Insurance, Claims and/or Safety
- Willingness to participate in occasional domestic travel
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Access and Power Point
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey information effectively
- High-level judgment and decision-making abilities
- Self-motivated and excellent organizational and time management skills
Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead steward of risk management for premier entertainment properties.
- Mitigate liability, optimize insurance coverage, and enforce SOPs for claim prevention, loss control, and early resolution.
- Provide strategic planning and hands-on event support.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure operational success and resilience.
- Procure insurance for Arenas and other lines of business.
- Manage company's loss control efforts.
- Lead on-site operational risk management and triage for arena activations and major events.
- Partner with internal Claims/WC, carriers, and outside counsel on the litigation lifecycle.
- Direct insurance renewals and carrier negotiations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to embed risk best practices and enforce indemnification standards.
- Engage with department leaders to track property initiatives and verify contractual insurance/indemnification terms.
- Manage certificates of insurance (COIs).
- Drive building resiliency and loss control with Safety, Facilities, and insurer risk engineers.
- Conduct daily incident reviews and lead rapid on-site investigations.
- Provide operational support to sister properties and execute special projects.
