About The Position

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, the Sr. Manager, Product Marketing will be ThinkOn's first technically driven product marketer. This role involves building the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), personas, and messaging framework from scratch, utilizing personal technical expertise and primary research. It also entails establishing collaboration between Product and Go-To-Market (GTM) teams to ensure roadmap decisions are informed by market context and launches are supported by a validated messaging framework. Additionally, the role will produce partner-facing messaging to activate the partner channel. ThinkOn has a strong product portfolio and a scaled partner channel with existing content, partner marketing, and campaign capabilities. This is a foundational role for building a dedicated product marketing function, suited for individuals energized by creating frameworks and who have prior experience in this area. ThinkOn is a remote-first organization, seeking candidates from Canada, preferably the Greater Toronto Area. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in B2B product marketing, with significant experience in cloud infrastructure, data protection, managed services, or a related technical field.
  • Proven ability to build positioning, persona, and ICP work from personal expertise and primary research, with detailed examples.
  • Experience establishing sales enablement within a partner-led or channel-led GTM motion.
  • Experience managing at least two or three product launches end-to-end, with the ability to discuss lessons learned.
  • Experience working in a scale-up environment (approx. $20M–$200M in revenue) and understanding of growth-related challenges.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to write crisply and informatively.
  • Ability to analyze technical documents (e.g., SOC 2 reports, hypervisor spec sheets, data residency compliance frameworks) and extract relevant buyer information.
  • Experience building frameworks that are adopted and used as operating tools.
  • Proficiency in using AI in daily workflows for research, synthesis, drafting, and enablement, with a clear point of view on its utility.
  • Intense curiosity about actual customer and partner buying behaviors.
  • Ability to form strong opinions and hold them loosely, prioritizing team success.
  • Proven history of operating with autonomy and producing results without a fully built brief.
  • Skills and knowledge to partner effectively with technical experts.
  • Strong understanding of how products fit into markets.
  • Comfortable engaging with senior product leaders regarding product strategy and roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Develop ICP and personas for commercial and public sectors, based on primary buyer research and ongoing learning.
  • Contribute methodology and buyer-side context to Partner Marketing's IPP work to ensure framework alignment.
  • Create positioning and messaging architecture for the entire ThinkOn portfolio, defining how ThinkOn is positioned for each segment and buyer type.
  • Establish a structured two-way information flow with Product: translate roadmap and release plans into market positioning and launch readiness, and build a recurring process for customer/partner feedback, win/loss patterns, and competitive intelligence to inform the product roadmap.
  • Act as the decision point between Product and GTM, ensuring GTM plans have strategic context and bringing development cost context to GTM requests driven by individual customer demand.
  • Build an intake and trade-off process for Product-GTM alignment.
  • Develop sales enablement materials such as battle cards, objection handling guides, and rep training content, and co-produce pitch decks and deal-stage collateral with Content.
  • Manage product launches end-to-end, including the launch brief and messaging framework, while collaborating with Content for assets, Partner Marketing for activation, and Digital for distribution.
  • Maintain a working view of competitive intelligence for hyper-scalers and cloud service providers across all ThinkOn geographies, translating it into usable artifacts for sales and marketing.
  • Conduct structured win/loss research with customers and partners to provide recurring inputs for positioning, pricing, and product development.
  • Develop messaging that supports the pricing model and ensures its market reception.
