DESCRIPTION: Join our collaborative team as a Senior Manager of Strategy, where you'll contribute to shaping Thermo Fisher Scientific's future growth and success. You'll guide strategic initiatives that directly impact our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. In this role, you'll lead the development and execution of comprehensive business strategies, working closely with executive leadership to identify and pursue growth opportunities across our global portfolio. You'll conduct in-depth market analysis, evaluate competitive landscapes, and translate insights into actionable recommendations that drive strategic decision-making. As a key member of our strategy team, you'll manage cross-functional projects, from initial concept through successful implementation, while building effective relationships across all organizational levels. This role will lead the Innovation pillar of our Strategy team which is responsible for tracking the most important life science trends affecting our business. This team works with R&D leaders, subject matter experts, and business leaders across Thermo Fisher to identify opportunities to drive innovation. You'll conduct in-depth market analysis, evaluate competitive landscapes, and translate insights into actionable recommendations that drive strategic decision-making. As a key member of our strategy team, you'll manage cross-functional projects, from initial concept through successful implementation, while building effective relationships across all organizational levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, biology, or related sciences
  • An MBA, advanced sciences degree, or 2+ years of experience in project engineering, project management, product management, or related experience in the Life Sciences industry
  • At least 2+ years experience leading teams preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills (esp. for executive-level audiences), and able to communicate clearly in group settings to influence actions and drive results within a matrixed environment
  • Strong understanding of life science research technologies, trends and competitive landscape
  • Strong organizational and program management skills
  • Excellence in data analysis, problem-solving, and strategic thinking
  • Strong understanding of basic finance and marketing terms and concepts
  • Able to identify and articulate the business case for emerging technologies
  • Able to manage concerns and conflicts productively and effectively within the core and extended teams
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and mentor colleagues in a high-paced, rapidly changing environment while maintaining order and a larger picture perspective.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working simultaneously on multiple projects, balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes
  • Experience with Lean / Process improvement

Responsibilities

  • Manage teams of subject matter experts tasked with identifying new scientific trends and technologies
  • Manage the Innovation Sensing team's resources and a team of up to 2 direct reports
  • Drive best practices for the Innovation Sensing team and cross-functional project teams
  • Communicate insights and emerging technology trends to key executive stakeholders
  • Partner, influence, and coordinate with senior R&D leaders to help shape LSG’s innovation agenda via Portfolio Reviews, Innovation Councils & R&D Forums
  • Partner and advise key business and strategy leaders to develop long-term innovation strategies to drive business growth
  • Define and drive market intelligence and customer research activities to help support strategic thinking and analysis
  • Establish working relationships with senior executives and R&D leaders across LSG and Thermo Fisher to understand their needs
  • Provide due diligence and analytical support on new technologies and M&A deals as needed
