About The Position

The Senior Manager, HR & Crew Experience is responsible for contributing to and leading HR services for film productions. This role partners closely with business leaders, production leaders, HR partners, and cross-functional teams, including Employee Relations, Employment Legal and Labor Relations. This role focuses on enhancing the production crew experience by delivering strategic HR support to productions, studio leadership, and key stakeholders. The West Coast team provides support and guidance for productions in the Western US, Canada as well as the Pacific region. The Senior Manager reports to the Vice President, HR & Crew Experience, and leads the HR & Crew Experience Partner.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or related work experience
• 7+ years of proven experience working as a Human Resources Manager / Business Partner
• Experience working in a creative and fluid working environment
• Creative and strategic problem-solving skills
• High degree of initiative, independent judgment, and discretion
• Ability to manage multiple high priority projects through exceptional organizational, prioritization, stakeholder management, and time management skills
• Strong verbal and consultative skills, with the ability to work with senior leaders in a matrixed environment
• Strong ability to influence and respond to questions from various groups of key stakeholders, including executives, employee relations and legal teams
• Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information in a manner that inspires confidence and trust
• Experience serving as a trusted advisor to senior executives in an influence-without-authority environment
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict effectively
• Able to work independently

Nice To Haves

• Experience of dealing with unions and guilds preferred
• Knowledge or experience in a production environment a plus
• Desire to continue development of production industry knowledge

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor, coach and consultant to production leaders, business leaders, and crew members on Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studio and Searchlight live-action productions
• Continuously develop and maintain an intimate understanding of the production business while building effective working relationships with stakeholders and clients, at all levels of the organization
• Coach production leaders and business leaders on crew issues, HR policies and processes
• Proactively assess production performance to recommend and drive action through a consultative, “influence without authority” approach
• Identify and analyze trends related to recurring issues and develop strategies to help resolve the issues
• Facilitate conversations and training sessions to develop the next generation of production leaders
• Oversee state production incentive submissions through the HR & Crew Experience Partner, in collaboration with production leaders and filmmakers, to ensure consistent execution and best practice sharing across teams
• Collaborate with the Corporate Social Responsibility team and external organizations to identify opportunities that strengthen the crew pipeline into production
• Support Labor Relations with union negotiations by providing documentation and workforce data for relevant populations
