About The Position

Manages the Fleet Services to include overseeing the fleet services operations and maintenance of all vehicles, industrial machinery and associated equipment. Provides guidance to the Transportation Department in Driver Training, Safety and onboarding for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities. Ensures that all Team Members and the department are aware of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines and ensures GCNA stays in compliance. Maintains the required Driver Qualification (DQ) files in accordance with government regulations. Ensures new hire drivers are vetted per current DOT and FMSCA rules. Coordinates the orientation and training process for new or promoted Fleet Drivers. Manages the FMSCA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse process as well as the DOT random drug tests. Collaborates with Safety and Risk Management regarding DOT requirements and changing regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Executes operations plan to ensure drivers are trained in safe operation of vehicles. Proactively promotes a culture of safety to prevent accidents and injuries. Ensures timely accident/incident investigations that involve property, equipment, and/or personnel. Develops safety strategies in partnership with Safety, Risk, and Asset Protection. Oversees the Driver Safety Committee, including facilitation of safety meetings and/or safety related classes. Provides driver safety training to the Transportation Department. Coordinates with Director of Transportation, ROC VP, and other departmental Senior Managers, Directors, and VPs to analyze, identify, and execute strategic goals and objectives regarding safety, training and driver retention. Oversees and manages all aspects of the organization’s vehicle and industrial machinery fleet. Oversees and manages leased fleet vehicle accounts for vehicle returns, allocation and billing in conjunction with Finance. Maintains all licensing, registration, insurance, emissions, and government permits on all vehicles in the GCNA fleet. Processes registration renewal/original titles at DMV and ensures each vehicle or individual has the appropriate insurance cards and are reported to the broker. Oversees internal and external requests for service and forwards to applicable vendor for timely processing of vehicle transportation, repairs and maintenance. Ensures preventative maintenance schedules for mechanical equipment is in place and followed per GCNA standards. Makes decisions on matters relating to the day-to-day operations of his/her areas of responsibility. Ensures that Team Members comply with all policies and procedures relating to Security, Health, and Safety; influences any changes necessary to meet statutory requirements, ensuring minimum risk to Team Members and the business. Ensures all DOT reporting requirements are accurate and up to date. Schedules and administers any testing or training for Team Members, as needed. Investigates, addresses, and documents all safety violations; administers re-training if necessary. Responsible for performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of Team Members. Ensures that leadership effectively manages performance of Team Members, discussing operational performance problems with Senior Leadership and HR Business Partner (HRBP) to identify causes and issues in order to work on resolving problems. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Must have experience in development and growth of Team Members.
  • 7+ years supervisory experience in the transportation industry.
  • Familiar with FMCSA, OSHA, and DOT rules and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean MVR.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently
