About The Position

HistoSonics is seeking a Senior Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to build and lead its EHS program across all domestic sites, with future responsibility for international locations. This role is crucial for ensuring a safe, compliant, and well-governed working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors, while supporting the company's growth as a medical device manufacturer. The position reports to the Director, Facilities & Real Estate and collaborates with various departments including Facilities, Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and HR to integrate safety and environmental compliance into daily operations. The Senior Manager will be both a strategic program builder and a hands-on practitioner, developing policies and standards while also actively identifying hazards and coaching teams on safe practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in environmental health and safety, with demonstrated ownership of an EHS program in a manufacturing, industrial, or life sciences environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Experience in a medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing hazardous materials and waste programs in a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a Radiation Safety Officer or supporting radiation-safety programs, including familiarity with applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional safety initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to influence safety behavior at all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or similar professional certification.
  • Experience building or scaling an EHS program in a high-growth company.
  • Exposure to international EHS regulatory frameworks or experience supporting global site expansion.
  • Experience partnering closely with Facilities and Manufacturing functions on integrated safety planning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive EHS program covering occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, and emergency preparedness across all domestic sites.
  • Establish EHS policies, standards, and procedures aligned with applicable federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and relevant industry standards for medical device manufacturing.
  • Build the foundation for a global EHS framework that can extend to international sites as HistoSonics scales, ensuring consistency in core safety standards while accommodating local regulatory requirements.
  • Define and track key EHS performance metrics; report program performance, trends, and risk areas to senior leadership on a regular cadence.
  • Develop and oversee core occupational safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Hazard Communication, Chemical Hygiene, Electrical Safety, and Contractor Safety.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments across manufacturing, lab, warehouse, and office environments; drive corrective and preventive actions to closure.
  • Lead investigation of workplace incidents, near-misses, and injuries; identify root causes and implement systemic improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Own the company's industrial hygiene program, including exposure monitoring, ergonomic assessments, and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
  • Partner with Facilities and Manufacturing leadership to ensure equipment, processes, and site layouts meet safety design and operational requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational safety and environmental regulations; maintain required permits, certifications, and recordkeeping (e.g., OSHA 300 logs, environmental permits, hazardous waste manifests).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for EHS-related regulatory inspections and audits, including preparation, on-site representation, and response to findings.
  • Manage hazardous materials and waste programs in compliance with applicable regulations, including proper storage, handling, labeling, and disposal practices.
  • Maintain effective chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheet management systems across applicable locations.
  • Stay current on evolving EHS regulations and industry best practices; proactively assess and communicate the impact of regulatory changes on HistoSonics' operations.
  • Develop and maintain site-specific emergency response plans, including fire, severe weather, and other site-relevant emergency scenarios.
  • Lead emergency response training and drills (e.g., evacuation drills, fire safety training) across all sites; ensure designated emergency personnel are trained and ready.
  • Partner with Facilities to support the readiness, testing, and ongoing effectiveness of life-safety systems and related emergency infrastructure.
  • Partner with Facilities on business continuity planning related to safety and environmental risks at each site.
  • Design and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and new hires, ensuring role-appropriate safety knowledge across the organization.
  • Champion a strong safety culture across HistoSonics, partnering with site leaders and team members to embed safety as a shared responsibility rather than a compliance checkbox.
  • Establish and facilitate employee safety committees or other structured forums for identifying risks, sharing feedback, and advancing safety improvements.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, Facilities, and HR to integrate EHS considerations into process design, facility planning, and workforce policies.
  • Represent EHS in cross-functional projects, including new site buildouts, equipment installations, and process changes, ensuring safety is considered early in planning.
