About The Position

Responsible for the management and administration of the operations and maintenance of all university utility plants.

Requirements

  • Ensuring the continuous and reliable supply of utilities, meeting environmental and safety standards, and optimizing plant performance.
  • Advanced knowledge of plant maintenance, utilities and system troubleshooting and repair.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships, within individual work groups and across departments, through open communication and collaboration; works with others to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Ability to lead, direct and contribute to initiatives and processes within the institution while creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage cost, quality and budgetary requirements.
  • Ability to work with outside entities including multiple vendors, contractors, and accreditation agencies.
  • Ability to write technical scopes of work and analyze proposals.
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the continuous and reliable supply of utilities, meeting environmental and safety standards, and optimizing plant performance.
  • Plans and directs activities relative to the maintenance of equipment, machinery and building utility systems.
  • Maintains records of maintenance activities for each piece of production equipment and machinery so as to assess and monitor maintenance effectiveness and trends.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks to measure and report on the plant's performance, efficiency and reliability.
  • Assesses maintenance activities and processes to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Participates in the planning and design of existing and new energy plants, including infrastructure and equipment.
  • Ensures that all employees are trained on safety and quality standards to ensure the department consistently meets established objectives.
  • Recommends and advises Facilities Management leadership on standards, policies and procedures as they related to energy plant standards.
  • Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; recommending pay adjustments; planning and directing work; appraising productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in status; handling complaints and grievances when necessary.
  • Utilize data analysis tools to monitor plant performance, diagnose issues, and make data-driven decisions to optimize operations.
  • Develop and manage the plant's budget, including forecasting expenses, monitoring costs, and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
