About The Position

As a Senior Manager of Cost Accounting at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll contribute to financial excellence and operational success across our manufacturing operations. Leading a team of financial analysts, you'll partner with operations leadership, ensuring financial transparency and accountability while optimizing costs and supporting continuous improvement. This position offers opportunities to create meaningful impact through financial leadership, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration in support of our mission to enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. You'll oversee all aspects of cost accounting, including product costing, inventory management, variance analysis, and capital expenditures. Working closely with site leadership teams, you'll guide financial planning and analysis, facilitate monthly/quarterly business reviews, and implement strategic initiatives to enhance profitability. This role combines technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and business acumen to effectively manage financial operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in cost accounting or finance, with proven leadership experience in manufacturing environments
  • Strong expertise in cost accounting principles, GAAP, and financial analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) and financial applications (Excel, PowerBI, HFM/CMR)
  • Excellence in financial forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and root cause interpretation
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to handle large datasets and deliver accurate reporting
  • Effective communication and presentation abilities to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Self-directed with excellent organizational and time management capabilities

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred

Responsibilities
