About The Position

The Senior Manager, Category & Shopper Strategy leads strategic initiatives for our portfolio across all channels, with a focus on distribution and shelving specific to a category. The position is the subject matter expert on shopper behavior, category trends and key retailer strategy through syndicated data analysis and development of relevant insights, both qualitative and quantitative. The Senior Manager, Category & Shopper Strategy is responsible for the effective communication of distribution and shelving principles that are in sync with merchandising and pricing priorities supporting the Annual Operating Plan. This includes support for gold standard aisle flow, planogram recommendations and future forward aisle vision. Additionally, the role is responsible for publishing and presenting selling materials for existing and new items with sufficient lead time to support opportunity identification, gain category leadership at strategic customers, and to drive key sales strategies forward through the field Sales teams. This role is also a participant in customer-facing meetings to support strategic vision, new item sell-in, and joint business planning. A crucial part of the role is to develop strong working partnerships cross-functionally with Marketing, Consumer & Shopper Insights, Sales Strategy, and Innovation. This role is hybrid - 3 days in office.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Interacts regularly with senior Sales, Marketing, and Consumer & Shopper Insights teams to develop strategic recommendations based on data analysis and insights
  • Responsible for generating category, shopper, and consumer insights-based selling materials:
  • Product and Assortment Prioritization based on category contribution and strategic brand initiatives to drive in market performance of existing portfolio
  • Support price/pack architecture, channel strategy, and commercialization priorities
  • New Item Sell-In to drive Speed to Shelf
  • Aisle Flow and Planogram Recommendations
  • Provides senior-level briefings on category trends, key research findings and provides guidance on potential strategies to action insights
  • Responsible for developing effective business strategies for various channels of trade with Clear Distribution and Shelving targets by working closely with Field Category Management
  • Provides training and guidance to field-based team members to ensure quality of execution with customers and customer teams
  • Develops communication strategy to implement key research insights into business plans at the customer level
  • Creates direction for joint business planning development and for the category management function based on insights
  • Supports field peers, as needed, in preparation for key meetings with priority customers
  • Engages with key customers to gain and share insights
  • Works with many cross-functional groups or teams at the customer team and Headquarter level (e.g. Consumer & Shopper Insights Team, Brand Teams, Field Sales and Category Management, Go-to-Market/Sales Strategy, and Innovation)
  • Understands the unique characteristics and challenges of various retail channels and their implications and opportunities for relevant categories
  • Synthesizes multiple data sources to develop clear strategic initiatives and compelling selling stories
