About The Position

The Capital Markets Controllership is responsible for the integrity and timeliness of the Capital Markets business units’ financial reporting. In this role you will lead a team to ensure completeness and accuracy of all financial aspects for Equity Derivative business and report to the Director, Capital Markets Controllership. You will embody the CIBC’s One Finance vision and guiding principles. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days remotely.

Requirements

  • A degree (Bachelors / Masters) in a business related field with preferred experience in accounting and financial analytics (e.g., MBA, CFA, CPA).
  • Demonstrate related experience and sufficient understanding of concepts and processes for the accounting of complex and/or sensitive information; financial instruments including but not limit to loan, deposits, equity products, equity derivative products, currency derivatives, interest rate products, and other hybrid instruments.
  • Critical, analytical thinking skills, and sound judgement.
  • Ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in accounting and financial analytics (e.g., MBA, CFA, CPA)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that complete and accurate financial and management accounting information, and supplemental reporting for Equity products trading and Trading Resource Management portfolios within CIBC Capital Markets.
  • Oversee the setup, maintenance, and reporting for multiple trading portfolios and related new initiatives.
  • Possess strong teamwork, partnership and relationship building skills sufficient to act in a collaborative manner with various business partners and operation teams.
  • Provide oversight and advisory over new and ongoing financial reporting processes and continuously enhance, automate and standardize the current processes.
  • Support the Management Team in aspects of improving employee engagement, business partner satisfaction and shareholder value.
  • Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training.
