This hands-on individual-contributor role has primary responsibility for medical review and MLR submissions, scientific content development, advisory boards and company-sponsored symposia, Medical Information support, exploratory analyses of existing data and data-generation opportunities, and external agency deliverables. The role independently drives assigned workstreams from development through approval and execution while partnering with Medical Directors and functional leads on scientific and strategic decisions. The role may be hybrid, with in-office collaboration two to three days per week in the San Francisco office, or U.S.-based remote with quarterly or as-needed visits to that office. Travel of up to 50% is expected for scientific congresses, advisory boards, company-sponsored symposia, KOL engagements, and key internal meetings.

Requirements

  • A PharmD, PhD, genetic counseling degree, NP/advanced practice degree, MS, or another relevant advanced scientific or healthcare degree.
  • Typically 3–5 years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology Medical Affairs experience, including hands-on medical review and MLR submissions, scientific content development, and advisory board or symposium execution.
  • Candidates with an MS or similar degree should have at least 5 years of demonstrated pharmaceutical or biotechnology Medical Affairs experience.
  • Candidates with a PharmD or PhD may qualify with less industry experience if supported by a Medical Affairs fellowship or equivalent.
  • Strong project-management and organizational skills, including the ability to independently manage multiple complex workstreams and deadlines.
  • Strong scientific writing and communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of clinical trial data and basic biostatistical concepts, with the ability to help frame analysis questions, interpret outputs, and summarize findings accurately.
  • Ability to distinguish executional decisions that can be managed independently from scientific or strategic issues requiring escalation.
