About The Position

Performs a variety of mechanical tasks related to performing general maintenance on university buildings. This role is for the second shift, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 PM to 1:30 AM.

Requirements

Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires driver's license.
Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, and plumbing repair and maintenance.
Knowledge of mechanical repair.
Ability to read schematics.
A criminal background check is required.

Responsibilities

Reviews work orders and investigates site; determines proper repair procedures; estimates time and materials needed.
Performs repair work; replaces tile; repairs doors and windows; unstops sinks and other plumbing fixtures; repairs steam valves; replaces motors and pumps on heating/air conditioning equipment; repairs electric switches and receptacles.
Serves as informational resource to staff.
Plans and conducts a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
May assist in setting up of stages, rigging, curtains, and lighting system for special events.
