About The Position

Bowhead seeks to network with a Sr Maintenance Mechanic to support Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic (SWFLANT). NWS mission requires the use of well-maintained and available tactical vehicles that transport security personnel and equipment in support of security operations and responses to security incidents over varying types of roads and in all weather conditions on Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay GA (NSB KINGS BAY).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years' experience as a vehicle mechanic with both standard and diesel engines.
  • Basic computer knowledge required plus experience with database software; internet software; spreadsheet software, word processing software and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; excellent written/verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
  • Candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with any Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), American Welding Society (AWS) and/or military coating application (MIL-DTL-53072) certificates are highly sought
  • Former military experience desired
  • Experience with parts, supply and vendor management, highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute short-range and long-range requirements in vehicle maintenance
  • Implement and monitor policies and procedures to create a safe work environment
  • Manage maintenance personnel in their performance of preventative and corrective maintenance to vehicles main diesel engine, transmissions, propulsion systems and all associated vehicle electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Interface with government officials, military members, and end user customers with professionalism and utmost regard for confidentiality
  • Maintain Government Furnished Equipment inventory and ensure it is kept in good working order.
  • Write repair packages and procedures to execute repairs through outside vendors utilizing their facilities
  • Monitor vehicle performance to ensure equipment is serviced, records are being maintained in respect to all repairs performed; damage to vehicles; and inspections results.
  • Work closely with the logistics department to ensure that repair parts are purchased and maintained to facilitate minimal down time on the vehicle .
  • Work continuously with vehicle owner and customer to achieve the highest level of satisfaction with the product
