About The Position

A Sr Maintenance Mechanic, under general supervision, is required to perform any and all tasks assigned by management based on the needs of the business. This role involves performing preventive and repair tasks related to facility structure and equipment using diagnostic devices. Primary work includes troubleshooting and repair of forklifts and vehicles, with experience in hydraulics and engine repairs being essential. The role may also include engine tune-ups or other vehicle maintenance with minimal supervision. Specific duties can encompass mechanical repairs, tubing mechanic work, minor welding, light carpentry, laminating, adhesive bonding of wall panels, painting, changing light bulbs, and general electrical and mechanical tasks such as changing oil filters on equipment. The mechanic will work from engineering drawings, sketches, and written/verbal instructions, and may direct the activities of other employees. Maintaining records, forms, and logs is also part of the responsibilities. The ability to research parts and place orders, along with some experience with compressed/vacuum systems, is required.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED or equivalent to a high school diploma plus formal craft training.
  • Ability to perform shop mathematics.
  • Five (5) plus years of related experience.
  • Must be able to interpret wiring/component drawings and schematics.
  • Basic experience with hand tools (wrenches, pliers, sockets, hammer, etc.) and must have own hand tools.
  • Ability to perform from written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret electro/mechanical drawings, sketches, and wiring diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of electrical principles, as well as structural and mechanical installation and repair.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours as needed to accomplish the task or work with little or no prior notification.
  • Ability to use forklifts, aerial lifts, and cranes.
  • Able to work from heights.
  • Experience in hydraulics and engine repairs.
  • Some experience with compressed/vacuum systems.

  • Certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair forklifts and vehicles.
  • Perform hydraulics and engine repairs.
  • Perform engine tune-ups or other vehicle maintenance with minimal supervision.
  • Perform mechanical repairs, tubing mechanic work and minor welding.
  • Perform light carpentry, laminating, and adhesive bonding of wall panels.
  • Perform painting.
  • Change light bulbs.
  • Perform general electrical and mechanical tasks such as changing oil filters on equipment.
  • Work from Engineering drawings, sketches and written and verbal instructions.
