Sr. Machine Learning Engineer, Autonomy
About The Position
42dot is building a new autonomous driving organization to deliver production-ready Level 4 autonomy across trucks, buses, passenger vehicles, and robotaxis. The organization takes an ML-first approach centered on end-to-end learning, foundation models, vision-language-action (VLA) models, and world models. As a founding senior engineer, you will help make key autonomy architecture decisions and drive their implementation into production. You will lead major technical initiatives from ambiguous problems through deployment on real vehicles, while helping shape the organization’s architecture, technical roadmap, engineering culture, hiring standards, and future direction.
Requirements
- Demonstrated grit, ownership, and a track record of driving difficult technical problems from ambiguity to successful deployment.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience building ML systems.
- Proven track record of shipping production ML systems.
- Experience leading technical projects from concept to deployment.
- Strong Python and PyTorch (or JAX) skills.
Nice To Haves
- Autonomous driving or robotics experience.
- Experience with end-to-end driving, VLA/VLM models, world models, or foundation models.
- Large-scale distributed training experience.
- Experience with simulation, synthetic data, or safety-critical systems.
- Publications at top conferences.
