We have a strong pipeline of business and are experiencing exciting growth. We are currently searching for an ambitious person to work within our corporate legal team as a Sr. Legal Assistant. This position is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Reports to: Dir of Legal Affairs Works closely with: Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and other members of the Legal Dept. Job Overview The Senior Legal Assistant reports to the Director of Legal Affairs and plays a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, specifically, and the Legal Department, generally, by handling complex administrative tasks, legal research, contract management, and preparation. This role requires a high level of independence, discretion, and professionalism to effectively manage multiple projects while maintaining confidentiality

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or related field; with paralegal certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal in corporate or litigation settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software; familiarity with case management and document management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, regulatory frameworks, and legal procedures relevant to corporate or civil matters.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with attorneys, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and exercise discretion and sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in corporate governance, construction/real estate, contract management, litigation support, and compliance related matters.
  • Familiarity with electronic filing, subpoena processing, and discovery management.
  • Knowledge of in-house legal team operations and legal workflow processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level administrative and legal support to Chief Legal Officers and General Counsel, senior legal staff, and attorneys within the company.
  • Conduct legal research, summarize findings, and prepare reports for review by attorneys.
  • Draft, review, and analyze legal documents, including contracts, subpoenas, discovery requests, and correspondence to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Manage and organize legal files and records, both physical and electronic, maintaining accurate and accessible case and contract documentation.
  • Coordinate and schedule internal and external meetings, discovery, and other attorney-related engagements.
  • Act as a liaison with clients, vendors, opposing counsel, and regulatory or government agencies as required.
  • Monitor case deadlines, filings, compliance requirements, and escalation of critical matters to legal oversight staff.
  • Support internal projects, special initiatives, or strategic tasks for Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel or senior staff.
  • Assist in contract lifecycle management, including preparation, review tracking, and filing.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of privileged legal matters and sensitive company information.
