Provides advanced legal secretarial and administrative support to attorneys and other staff within the Sanford Legal Department. The role involves working collaboratively with multiple attorneys and staff members to meet the day-to-day needs of the department. This includes clearly communicating with internal and external individuals, managing calendars, monitoring deadlines, coordinating schedules, organizing and maintaining legal files, drafting correspondence, and processing mail and invoices. The position also performs administrative support tasks such as typing, proofreading, scanning, organizing documents, and updating databases. It requires processing invoices, check requests, and expense reports for attorneys, law firms, experts, and other vendors. The Legal Assistant will triage phone calls, emails, and other communications, organize and save legal documents and other correspondence to files, arrange travel, create letters and other communications, and schedule meetings, depositions, and mediations. Additionally, the role responds to requests for claims histories and insurance coverage verifications, and performs other duties as assigned. The individual is expected to take personal ownership of and strive to meet assigned tasks, demonstrate professionalism in interactions, and possess expertise with various office and legal software programs. Basic knowledge of litigation, pleadings, and legal terminology is necessary, as is maintaining confidentiality of patient and client information. The role involves operating standard office equipment, multi-tasking, handling multiple projects, and completing work accurately and in a timely fashion.
