About The Position

NTT DATA is seeking a Sr. Java Developer / Lead (FTE / Hybrid) to join their team. This role involves working with stakeholders to gather requirements, developing, testing, and deploying APIs, and writing tested, idiomatic, and documented Java code. The position requires cooperation with front-end developers for API integration, communication with external web services, and the production, maintenance, and modification of REST APIs, ensuring they are developed using industry-standard best practices. The role also includes fixing issues and bugs, API logging, API testing, and creating REST API documentation using tools like Swagger and YAML. Experience with TDD, writing unit test cases in JUnit, and familiarity with unit test frameworks like Mockito are essential. The developer will also be involved in test-driven design and development, unit and integration testing, CI/CD, and end-to-end test frameworks such as Fitnesse/Test API and Protractor, as well as functional testing with Cucumber. Development and execution of unit test scripts, experience in SQL and Stored Procedures (e.g., RDS Oracle DB), understanding requirements, dependencies, and timelines, estimation of User Stories, and developing innovative/reusable components are also key responsibilities. Progress tracking using tools like Atlassian JIRA and adherence to delivery timelines are expected. Experience with Unix, Linux Operating Systems (preferably on AWS), Scrum and other Agile processes, and knowledge of Jira, Git/SVN, Jenkins, DevOps, and CI/CD are required. Extensive experience in Java 8, Spring boot, microservices architecture, and knowledge of REST API design and specifications are crucial. Familiarity with microservices patterns (gateway, discovery, config, sidecar services), internal/external cloud implementations (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and Spring integration with messaging systems like Apache Kafka, AMQP, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ is necessary. Preferred knowledge includes Apigee, security aspects (TLS, MTLS, oAuth2, session management), deployment tools like Docker and Kubernetes, RDBMS like DB2, NoSQL databases like Cassandra, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Fortify, Sonar, and Blackduck.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in development of RESTful APIs and Microservices using technology stack: Java/J2EE, Spring framework, Spring Batch, AWS Elastic Kubernetes Services (EKS), RDS Oracle DB, Apigee/API Gateway.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in API logging, API testing, creating REST API documentation using Swagger and YAML or similar tools
  • Knowledge of Apigee, security aspects like TLS, MTLS, oAuth2, session management.

Responsibilities
