About The Position

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading complex, cross-functional IT projects and/or programs from initiation through successful delivery and closure. Depending on business needs, this role may independently manage a single large strategic project, lead a larger program consisting of multiple related projects and workstreams, or manage multiple independent projects concurrently. This role requires an experienced project leader with a strong background managing technology initiatives in complex enterprise environments. The Senior Project Manager must be able to effectively partner with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and leadership while translating between technical and business audiences. This position operates within a high-visibility IT portfolio environment. Project and program schedules, financial forecasts, risks, status, and delivery information managed by the Senior Project Manager will contribute to portfolio-level reporting and leadership decision-making. The successful candidate must therefore demonstrate a high degree of accuracy, ownership, judgment, and accountability.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive IT project management experience leading complex, cross-functional technology projects and/or programs.
  • Experience working within an IT PMO or enterprise technology portfolio management environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and experience with project and portfolio management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and executive leadership.
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions and drive resolution.
  • Experience managing third-party technology vendors, contractors, and professional services organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, scope, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, and change.
  • Strong project financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, expense tracking, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Experience independently managing complex IT projects and programs from initiation through implementation and closure across business and technology teams.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP, PgMP, Agile, Scrum, or related project/program management certification.
  • Experience managing projects across one or more enterprise IT domains, such as cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, enterprise applications, data and analytics, systems integration, or digital transformation.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Jira, Azure DevOps, Monday.com, Microsoft Project, or similar project and portfolio management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Independently leads complex projects and/or programs from initiation and planning through execution, implementation, and closure.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project and/or program plans, schedules, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, and deliverables.
  • Establish clear scope, objectives, success criteria, roles, responsibilities, and governance expectations.
  • Drive execution across cross-functional business and technology teams to achieve project and program objectives.
  • Monitor project and program performance against scope, schedule, budget, resource, and quality commitments.
  • Proactively identify delivery challenges and develop corrective action plans before issues materially affect outcomes.
  • Drive accountability for decisions, actions, deliverables, and commitments across project and program teams.
  • Evaluate proposed changes for impact to budget, schedule, resources, risks, dependencies, and expected outcomes before commitments are made.
  • Coordinate internal resources, contractors, and vendors to support successful delivery.
  • Manage vendor commitments, deliverables, schedules, dependencies, and financial performance.
  • Validate vendor progress against contractual or project commitments.
  • Apply project management best practices consistently across assigned initiatives.
  • Provide lessons learned and recommendations that improve future project and portfolio performance.
  • Lead project meetings, steering discussions, status reviews, working sessions, and decision-making forums.
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, financial tracking, and financial reporting for assigned projects and/or programs throughout the lifecycle, including developing and maintaining accurate budgets and forecasts based on approved scope, resource plans, vendor commitments, and delivery schedules.
  • Track actual and forecasted expenditures against approved project and program budgets.
  • Identify and explain budget variances, forecast changes, and actual spend.
  • Ensure project and program financial information is current, supportable, and accurately represented in portfolio-level reporting.
  • Support capital planning and funding activities, including preparation of project cost estimates and required financial documentation.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and concise project and program information for inclusion in portfolio-level reporting, including status, financial forecasts, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and key decisions.
  • Prepare clear project and program status reports, dashboards, financial summaries, and executive-level updates that translate complex information into concise, decision-oriented communication for senior leadership.
  • Maintain a high standard of data quality and reporting discipline given the visibility and downstream use of project information.
