Sr. IT Engineer

SEF Energy CareersOklahoma City, OK
Onsite

About The Position

The Sr. IT Engineer owns the infrastructure and systems engineering that SEF Energy and its subsidiaries run on – cloud platforms, networking, identity and accounts, and the Freedom Series field-compute hardware fleet. This is a senior, hands-on individual-contributor role based on-site in Oklahoma City, where the field-compute fleet is built, imaged, and staged. The role carries the company's core infrastructure knowledge: it designs, validates, and operates the systems the business runs on, and it directs the work of managed-service partners with full command of what they deliver.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in IT engineering / systems administration with demonstrated end-to-end ownership of infrastructure projects
  • Hands-on cloud administration: Microsoft Azure required, AWS strongly preferred
  • Networking depth: SD-WAN (Peplink or equivalent), branch networking, and field connectivity (cellular, satellite, mesh radio)
  • Microsoft 365 / Entra ID administration and endpoint management (Intune, Defender)
  • Hardware fleet experience: imaging and deployment at scale (Windows, PowerShell), industrial or ruggedized compute hardware, and device lifecycle management
  • Procurement and vendor coordination for IT hardware and services
  • Self-directed with exceptional time management; capable of owning parallel workstreams with limited day-to-day oversight
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the company driver requirement to operate a company vehicle while traveling

Nice To Haves

  • Formal cloud training or certification is a plus
  • Oilfield or industrial field-systems exposure is a plus but not required
  • Industry certifications (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Cisco or equivalent networking) are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and AWS: architecture, administration, security posture, and cost management, coordinating managed-service partners with full internal command of the environment
  • Administer identity, accounts, and endpoints alongside the existing IT engineering team: Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Defender
  • Lead mesh networking R&D and rollout: evaluate, pilot, and standardize mesh radio technology (Rajant, Mimosa) for pad and facility connectivity
  • Carry infrastructure projects end to end: Windows 11 rollout and PowerShell-based deployment at scale, Peplink SD-WAN standardization, branch-site network buildouts, dedicated circuits, and Starlink fleet management
  • Own the lifecycle of the Freedom Series field-compute hardware fleet (FSL, FSiC, FSDI) and control-center units (FSCC): imaging, configuration, build, staging, shipping, and spares, based out of the Oklahoma City facility
  • Administer communication and physical-security platforms: cloud telephony (Dialpad), cameras, and door-access systems (UniFi)
  • Maintain field data-ingestion standards and SOPs for Freedom Series operations, including channel-naming and data-quality conventions
  • Run IT procurement and vendor management: quotes, RFPs, orders, contractor coordination, and vendor escalations for hardware and connectivity
  • Own inventory and asset management: equipment audits, asset records (Meraki, Starlink), and fleet inventory accuracy
  • Resolve infrastructure and systems tickets in the IT ticketing system (Freshdesk)
  • Support business and engineering platforms as part of the IT engineering team: QHSE platform (forms, tablets), engineering applications (SolidWorks), and SharePoint
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Occasional travel to branch sites and company facilities may be required, estimated less than 10% of time
  • We pride ourselves in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all employees.
  • To gain employment, the candidate will need to pass a hair follicle drug test and a background check once the offer of employment has been accepted.
