About The Position

SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Sr. IS Architect for a hybrid opportunity for candidates in Columbia, SC. Candidate will provide senior-level architecture leadership for the secure adoption and integration of artificial intelligence solutions across a complex enterprise environment. The role will translate AI security, privacy, risk, and compliance requirements into practical architecture standards while partnering with technology, business, governance, and security stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field; alternatively, 4 years of relevant work experience or 2 years of relevant experience plus an associate's degree in one of these disciplines.
  • 9+ years of professional IT experience.
  • Proven experience leading joint Information Systems and business teams through complex strategic initiatives and business challenges.
  • Extensive understanding of enterprise application or systems architecture, development methodologies, technology standards, and integration practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate architecture options, technical risks, business impacts, costs, and benefits.
  • Strong negotiation, decision-making, problem-solving, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams within a matrixed organizational environment.
  • Ability to develop strong collaborative relationships across architecture, development, security, governance, business, and senior management organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience spanning business systems and enterprise architecture.
  • Experience with AI security architecture, AI governance, responsible AI, or secure implementation of AI technologies.
  • Experience developing security architecture standards, reference architectures, control requirements, and secure design patterns.
  • Experience performing AI or application threat modeling, including risks such as prompt injection, data exposure, unauthorized access, insecure integrations, machine identity risks, and AI-enabled impersonation.
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy, identity and access management, vendor risk, security operations, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Experience evaluating software products, technology platforms, vendor solutions, and complex system integrations.
  • Experience producing architecture documentation, technical whitepapers, standards, and implementation guidance.
  • Completion of SACP and/or PMCP courses is preferred.
  • Experience mentoring architects, developers, and other technical professionals.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration across multiple platforms, operating systems, applications, and environments.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain enterprise AI security architecture standards, reference models, minimum security controls, secure design patterns, and implementation guidance for AI tools, models, applications, integrations, connectors, and related technologies.
  • Evaluate proposed AI and application solutions to assess data protection, access controls, encryption, logging, monitoring, retention, output handling, integration security, and overall architectural alignment.
  • Lead threat-modeling activities for high-priority AI use cases and technology providers, identifying potential risks and recommending appropriate safeguards.
  • Provide senior-level architectural guidance and technical oversight for complex projects, application initiatives, R&D efforts, vendor evaluations, and enterprise technology changes.
  • Review system software and hardware designs, assess architecture alternatives and associated risks, and provide recommendations that support business objectives and enterprise technology standards.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor, decision maker, and escalation point while mentoring technical teams, communicating architectural direction, and ensuring solutions are successfully integrated into the broader enterprise environment.
