About The Position

Mimecast is seeking a Sr. Infrastructure & Cloud Spend Manager to oversee financial visibility and accountability for cloud and infrastructure expenses. This role involves partnering with Engineering, Product, and Procurement to enhance forecasting, optimize costs, and support strategic decisions. Cloud and infrastructure spend is a significant and growing cost for Mimecast. This is a highly visible individual contributor position reporting to the VP, Product Finance & Corporate Development, based in Lexington, MA, with a hybrid onsite schedule. The role offers the chance to build scalable infrastructure cost-management capabilities within a growth-focused, PE-backed environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in FP&A, cost and financial analysis, or FinOps.
  • Proficiency and autonomy to own complex infrastructure spend in a SaaS or cloud-native technology environment.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure cost drivers and pricing models across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Ability to analyze large, complex datasets and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and business-partnership skills.
  • Ability to turn technical cost drivers into clear financial narratives for non-technical stakeholders.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FinOps tooling such as CloudHealth, Cloudability, Kubecost, or native cloud cost-management tools.
  • SQL proficiency and hands-on experience with Snowflake or a similar data platform.
  • Experience operating in a PE-backed or high-growth environment with an emphasis on EBITDA-focused cost management.
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Finance owner for cloud and infrastructure spend (AWS, Azure, GCP, data centers, colocation).
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive cost taxonomy mapping spend to products, teams, and business units.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting for cloud and infrastructure spend, linking usage trends with product roadmaps, customer growth, and Engineering capacity plans.
  • Support annual budgeting and long-range planning for infrastructure costs, providing variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
  • Identify, quantify, and drive cost-optimization opportunities (reserved instances, savings plans, rightsizing, architecture changes) in partnership with Engineering.
  • Evaluate vendor contracts and commitments, supporting negotiations with data-driven cost and usage analysis.
  • Champion FinOps best practices and tooling, building dashboards and self-service analytics for cloud spend and unit economics visibility.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Engineering leadership on financial implications of architecture and infrastructure decisions.
  • Develop a rolling infrastructure spend forecast adopted by Engineering and Finance leadership.
  • Drive measurable cost savings and a mature FinOps reporting cadence.
  • Contribute to the broader Product & Engineering Finance team’s goals around cost discipline and EBITDA impact.
