About The Position

MetroStar is seeking a Sr. Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) II to safeguard digital assets and sensitive information. The role serves as a security engineering subject matter expert for containerized environments, service mesh technologies, and microservices. The engineer designs, implements, and manages security controls for containerized workloads; integrates security into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows; monitors systems and investigates security incidents; and assesses threats, vulnerabilities, and risks. The position collaborates with technical and compliance teams to embed security throughout the system lifecycle and supports assessments, documentation, reporting, and continuous monitoring. The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly and a CISSP or equivalent certification supporting DoD 8140 requirements.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with CI Poly.
  • CISSP or equivalent certification to support DoD 8140 requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience as a cybersecurity engineer specializing in designing and building implementations of required security controls and implementing continuous monitoring and auditing for security-control compliance.
  • Strong experience with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, ICD 503, FISMA, and FedRAMP.
  • Strong skills specifying and implementing log collection in tools such as Splunk and querying and analyzing aggregated logs to identify security-relevant anomalies or risks.
  • Experience with security tools such as Fortify, Acunetix, and Prisma Cloud.
  • Proficiency in incident response, security incident handling, and forensic analysis techniques.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and validating security controls in a containerized, Kubernetes, or DevSecOps IL5/IL6+ environment.
  • Experience performing periodic security checks to support continuous monitoring aligned with the NIST Risk Management Framework.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and infrastructure components.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a security engineering subject matter expert for containerized environments, service mesh technologies, and microservices.
  • Design, implement, and manage security controls for containerized workload solutions, including image scanning, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, endpoint protection, encryption, runtime protection, role-based access control, and network segmentation.
  • Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows and support compliance with RMF, NIST SP 800-53, ICD 503, and FedRAMP requirements.
  • Configure and optimize security monitoring and logging solutions and work with container security tools such as Prisma Cloud or similar tools.
  • Monitor network traffic, system logs, and security alerts to detect potential incidents; investigate anomalies and breaches; and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
  • Develop and implement incident response plans for security breaches, incidents, and other security concerns.
  • Monitor and assess threat intelligence feeds, conduct threat analysis, and perform risk assessments to identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers, ISSOs, developers, IT, software development, and compliance teams to establish and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Integrate security into all phases of the development lifecycle and promote a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity.
  • Conduct regular security assessments of container orchestration platforms, microservices, and APIs; identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses; and recommend mitigations.
  • Maintain documentation of security architecture processes, control implementation procedures, configurations, and continuous monitoring strategies.
  • Prepare detailed reports on security findings, incidents, and actions taken.
