About The Position

MKS Instruments is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Import/Export Analyst to join our Global Trade Compliance team. This role is responsible for supporting import and export compliance activities across multiple business units and regions. The successful candidate will ensure products are accurately classified for import and export purposes, support customs compliance initiatives, manage export control requirements, and partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, Finance, and Customer Support teams to maintain compliance with global trade regulations while enabling business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in import/export compliance, customs compliance, or global trade operations
  • Strong knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification methodologies
  • Experience with export controls, including ECCN classification, export licensing, and restricted party screening
  • Experience qualifying products under Free Trade Agreements and preferential trade programs
  • Experience with supporting responses to customs inquiries, audits, CF28s, CF29s, and other regulatory requests
  • Strong analytical skills with experience auditing trade transactions and identifying duty savings opportunities
  • Ability to interpret technical product information and collaborate effectively with engineering teams
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred), trade compliance software, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage import and export trade compliance activities, including HTS classification, export classification (ECCN), country of origin determinations, restricted party screening, and export license reviews
  • Conduct product classifications utilizing engineering specifications, technical drawings, bills of materials, and product documentation to ensure compliance with global customs and export control requirements
  • Qualify products for applicable free trade agreements and preferential trade programs, including USMCA, KORUS, ILFTA, and other regional agreements
  • Support import and export operations by reviewing shipments, documentation, broker requests, customs declarations, and other trade transactions to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Respond to trade compliance inquiries from internal stakeholders, brokers, and logistics providers
  • Perform trade compliance audits and data analytics to identify process improvements, mitigate compliance risks, and support duty savings and recovery opportunities
  • Support customs inquiries, audits, disclosures, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Maintain trade compliance procedures, records, and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
