About The Position

As a Senior HSE Engineer (Environmental) at the Spokane, Washington site, you will serve as a functional HSE expert and will be responsible for implementation and assessment of the Environmental Compliance and Environmental Management System at the Spokane Facility as well as provide technical support to other Solstice sites. This position will report to the Director of Environmental Compliance and will partner with business leaders and employees to continuously improve HSE culture, awareness, and accountability in support of business objectives.

Requirements

  • Serve as a functional HSE expert.
  • Responsible for implementation and assessment of the Environmental Compliance and Environmental Management System.
  • Provide technical support to other Solstice sites.
  • Partner with business leaders and employees to continuously improve HSE culture, awareness, and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with State, Federal and Corporate Health Safety, Environmental and Security guidelines.
  • Manage air permitting, hazardous and solid waste, wastewater, and stormwater, SPCC, EPCRA, CERCLA, and management systems.
  • Prepare routine multi-media reports for submission to governmental agencies, trade associations, and corporate organizations.
  • Determine waste characterization, waste profile management, developing and tracking shipping papers.
  • Manage and championing various workflows by inputting environmental information into the corporate HSE management system.
  • Manage Environmental compliance audits and Environmental self-audits and corrective action items.
  • Develop trend analysis and appropriate action plans.
  • Manage interactions and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, outside support / consulting groups, and regulatory agency personnel.
  • Provide technical support on compliance with Environmental regulations/permits/programs to the Leadership Team and plant personnel.
  • Develop, give presentations, and training to all site personnel.
  • Participate in root cause investigations for environmental, safety, or other incidents.
  • Establish and maintain HSE documentation and record keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with State, Federal and Corporate Health Safety, Environmental and Security guidelines, including air permitting, hazardous and solid waste, wastewater, and stormwater, SPCC, EPCRA, CERCLA, and management systems.
  • Prepare routine multi-media reports for submission to governmental agencies, trade associations, and corporate organizations, such as: Air Permit Compliance Reports, Discharge Monitoring Reports; Toxic Release Inventories; Tier II reports, Solid waste reports, Hazardous Waste reports and Energy and sustainability metric reports.
  • Determine waste characterization, waste profile management, developing and tracking shipping papers
  • Manage and championing various workflows by inputting environmental information into the corporate HSE management system, in a timely manner.
  • Manage Environmental compliance audits and Environmental self-audits and corrective action items to timely closure.
  • Develop trend analysis and appropriate action plans across focus areas to identify and drive continuous improvements to Environmental programs.
  • Manage interactions and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, outside support / consulting groups, and regulatory agency personnel.
  • Provide technical support on compliance with Environmental regulations/permits/programs to the Leadership Team and plant personnel in the day-to-day operations, directly supporting and participating in Tier reporting structure through the plant.
  • Develop, give presentations, and training to all site personnel.
  • Participating in root cause investigations as necessary for any environmental, safety, or other incidents.
  • Establish and maintain HSE documentation and record keeping.
