About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This role is part of the AWS procurement team, focusing on sourcing electrical distribution capital equipment for the growing infrastructure. The Global Category Manager will develop sourcing strategies and action plans to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership, supporting the exponential growth of AWS Data Centers. This involves leading internal engagements across supply chain, engineering, and business organizations, diving deep into technologies and operations from both product and supply chain perspectives. The role requires analyzing industry trends, including vendors, customers, and technology, to develop strategies for cost reduction, risk minimization, supply continuity, and leveraging emerging opportunities to meet AWS goals.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
  • 6+ years of professional or military experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
  • Experience explaining complex technical concepts to various business and technical audiences
  • Experience presenting to both technical and non-technical executive audiences
  • Experience leading complex, multi-year initiatives that may be cross-functional and/or span business and technology
  • 6+ years of experience driving C-level supplier engagements to influence strategic investments and product roadmaps.
  • 6+ years of relevant strategic sourcing and category management experience in capital equipment

Responsibilities

  • Develop negotiation strategies to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with strategic suppliers pertaining to electrical distribution equipment for data centers or other mission critical facilities.
  • Create and execute strategic sourcing projects that will support the teams’ development of an end-to-end sourcing plan globally.
  • Influence suppliers' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations by leveraging the growth of Amazon's spend.
  • Negotiate and implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions.
  • Analyze and determine cost reduction opportunities by leveraging volumes, optimizing the supplier base and reducing total cost of ownership.
  • Lead sourcing engagements and competitive bidding (RFI, RFQ, and RFP).
  • Work with our team and business partners for the creation and continuous improvement of the capital equipment supply chain.
  • Make optimal trade-offs between schedule, resources, and scope, and apply advanced technical and business knowledge to address major risks, challenges, and obstacles.
  • Help develop long-term department strategies and significantly influence the cross-company project development and delivery processes and standards.
