$221,000 - $253,000Hybrid

About The Position

Laurel is seeking an exceptional Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join their Product & Engineering organization. The role involves building scalable, reliable software across the entire stack, from native telemetry and cloud services to user-facing products that automate professionals’ timekeeping. Senior Engineers are expected to own complex work end-to-end, elevate the skills of those around them, and tackle high-level business challenges within a collaborative, cross-functional team. The position requires curiosity to understand customer problems, the ability to learn quickly, and to deliver value incrementally. This role is not tied to a single team; the company will consider candidates across various Product & Engineering teams (DFP, Signal, Timekeeping, and Enterprise) to find the best mutual fit during the interview process. AI is fundamentally changing the nature of work, and this role offers the opportunity to understand and impact customer experiences at the forefront of this transformation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with full-stack range across front end and back end.
  • Solid understanding of modern web technologies and comfortable working with large-scale data systems.
  • Strong understanding of TypeScript / JavaScript, Node.js, messaging queues (e.g., AWS SQS), and MongoDB.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to engage with customers and understand their needs.

Nice To Haves

  • React and front-end frameworks
  • Python (Django, FastAPI, or Flask)
  • Airflow
  • PostgreSQL
  • NestJS
  • Native desktop development (e.g., .NET on Windows)
  • Mobile app development
  • Experience working with ML teams.
  • Experience in AI is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and extremely reliable code across the full stack — from native and cloud services to user-facing product.
  • Take responsibility for complex features and product areas from spec through delivery, alerting, and monitoring — building in quality and security from the start.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams — product managers, designers, and other engineers — to gather requirements, define technical specifications and measures of success, and deliver high-quality software.
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to mitigate and address them. Continuously improve the performance, scalability, and security of our applications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to more junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Implement automated testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure robust, reliable releases.
  • Engage with our product and our users. Your input and opinion will be highly valued — we expect you to have many thoughts on how things should be done and why.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, with a detail-oriented approach and a bias towards action.
