About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer with a strong background in C/C++ programming and hands-on experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers. The role involves working with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), embedded protocols, and firmware/hardware integration. The ideal candidate will be able to make independent technical decisions and contribute to the maintenance, refactoring, or rewriting of existing firmware codebases. This is a 6-12 month contract position with potential for extension, located in Taunton, MA, requiring 100% onsite presence.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • 6-8+ years of relevant Firmware/Embedded experience
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills
  • Hands-on experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers
  • RTOS experience
  • Experience with embedded protocols: SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO
  • Experience with ADC, PWM, Timers
  • Strong firmware + hardware integration knowledge
  • Ability to independently make technical decisions

Nice To Haves

  • Bench-level debugging/testing experience
  • Experience with oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter
  • JTAG/SWD debugging experience
  • Experience with ultra-low-power embedded systems
  • Experience in Defense/Aerospace or other mission-critical products
  • Experience evaluating an existing firmware codebase and deciding whether to maintain, refactor, or rewrite

Responsibilities

  • Write and debug C/C++ code on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
  • Work with RTOS and embedded protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO).
  • Perform firmware and hardware integration.
  • Make independent technical decisions.
  • Evaluate existing firmware codebases and decide on maintenance, refactoring, or rewriting strategies.
  • Perform bench-level debugging and testing using tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Utilize JTAG/SWD debugging techniques.
  • Work with ultra-low-power embedded systems.
  • Contribute to defense/aerospace or other mission-critical products.
