About The Position

At Securian Financial, Finance is more than reporting the numbers. Our Finance Business Partners work alongside leaders across the organization to understand what is driving performance, anticipate financial needs and turn complex data into insights that help the business make better decisions. We’re looking for an experienced IT Finance Business Partner to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. In this highly collaborative role, you’ll serve as a trusted financial advisor to leaders across our Information Technology (IT) organization and Enterprise Consulting & Project Management Office (ECPMO). You’ll bring together financial expertise, business acumen and strong relationship-building skills to help leaders manage expenses, evaluate investments, understand financial tradeoffs and make informed decisions. From annual planning and forecasting to technology cost management and business cases, you’ll have the opportunity to influence decisions that impact both Technology and the broader enterprise.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Significant experience in financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and variance analysis.
• Experience supporting Technology/IT financial management, with an understanding of technology costs, investments and total cost of ownership.
• Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to move beyond reporting results to identifying insights, implications and recommended actions.
• Demonstrated ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with senior business leaders and cross-functional partners.
• Strong communication, presentation and financial storytelling skills, including the ability to make complex financial information understandable and actionable.
• Experience developing or evaluating business cases and cost-benefit analyses.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to identify root causes and challenge assumptions.
• Experience using financial, analytics or business intelligence tools; experience with Apptio, SAP or similar platforms is valuable.
• Interest in leveraging data, technology and automation to improve financial processes, reporting and decision support.
• Ability to navigate change, competing priorities and ambiguity while working collaboratively across teams.
• A proactive, self-directed approach with strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leaders and influence decisions: Build trusted relationships with IT and ECPMO leaders, serving as a strategic finance thought partner and advisor.
• Translate financial data and complex analyses into clear, compelling insights that help leaders understand performance, risks and opportunities.
• Anticipate leaders' financial needs and develop tools, reporting and analysis that support better and faster decision-making.
• Strengthen financial acumen across the organization by coaching leaders on FP&A concepts, expense management and financial tradeoffs.
• Lead planning, budgeting and forecasting: Lead financial planning, budgeting and forecasting activities for supported IT and ECPMO areas.
• Partner with leaders to understand strategic initiatives, staffing plans and investment priorities and translate them into financial plans.
• Analyze actual and forecasted results, identify key drivers of variance and help leaders develop strategies to address gaps against financial targets.
• Support quarterly close activities, including accrual reviews and analysis to ensure complete and accurate financial results.
• Drive effective technology expense management: Provide insight into direct and allocated technology expenses and help leaders understand the financial impact of their decisions.
• Apply technology financial management concepts, including total cost of ownership, to support investment and expense decisions.
• Identify opportunities to optimize expenses and partner with Finance and business leaders on enterprise expense-management strategies.
• Develop and evaluate business cases, including cost-benefit analyses, to help leaders assess investments and competing priorities.
• Improve how Finance works: Collaborate across FP&A and Technology to improve financial reporting, analytics, dashboards and decision-support tools.
• Leverage technology, data and automation to simplify processes and deliver more meaningful financial insights.
• Bring external perspectives and best practices in technology finance and FP&A to continuously improve how we support the business.
• Help lead financial process and system changes by engaging stakeholders, driving adoption and supporting effective transitions.
