Senior Facility Engineer – JLL What this job involves: The Senior Facility Engineer is a hands-on technical expert responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs, and facility operations across a designated territory. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of commercial building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical operations. You'll maintain facilities to JLL's high standards while ensuring compliance with safety codes and regulations. Working independently with limited supervision, you'll respond to maintenance needs, manage vendor relationships, and serve as a critical technical resource for our operations team. This position offers the opportunity to apply diverse technical skills in a dynamic environment where your expertise directly impacts facility performance and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with completion of an applicable technical training program
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience performing repairs and maintenance on commercial HVAC systems in commercial building environments
  • EPA Universal Certification and R410a Certification currently valid and in good standing
  • Valid state driver's license with the ability to travel within assigned geographic territory (truck-based or campus-based work)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA standards, local building codes, and safe work practices, particularly for energized electrical work
  • Physical capability to lift minimum 80 lbs, work from ladders up to 30 ft, and access equipment through bending, kneeling, squatting, and working overhead for extended periods
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), Microsoft Office Suite, and web-based applications for documentation and work order management

Nice To Haves

  • Formal technical training certification in HVAC, electrical systems, or facilities maintenance from an accredited institution
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and controls troubleshooting in commercial environments
  • Additional electrical, plumbing, or HVAC trade certifications beyond minimum requirements
  • Prior experience in commercial property management or corporate facility environments with exposure to multi-site operations
  • Strong customer service background with demonstrated ability to assess client needs and maintain high satisfaction standards
  • Advanced knowledge of specialized building systems including fire/life safety, security systems, or energy management platforms

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on commercial HVAC systems including cooling towers, pumps, motors, air handlers, automation/controls systems, and associated electrical components
  • Maintain and repair low/medium voltage power systems, lighting systems and controls, plumbing systems, and mechanical equipment using industry-standard tools while adhering to all safety codes and regulations
  • Conduct facility inspections and due diligence assessments, documenting as-found conditions and identifying potential safety hazards or maintenance needs
  • Execute general building maintenance tasks including interior repairs, furniture installation, painting, locksmith work, and tenant service requests while maintaining excellent housekeeping standards
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls 24/7, working in various conditions including rooftops, confined spaces, and outdoor environments in all weather conditions
  • Manage and track work orders through computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), ensuring accurate documentation and timely completion of assignments
  • Collaborate with operations teams and vendors to coordinate building maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to facility operations and occupant comfort
