About The Position

The City of Murphy's City Secretary's Office seeks to add a Sr. Executive Administrative Assistant (Part-Time) to its dynamic team! Under the general direction of the City Secretary, you will perform responsible administrative and clerical duties in support of the City's records management and public information functions. You will also serve as staff liaison and administrative support for the Murphy Community Development Corporation/Murphy Municipal Development District (MCDC/MMDD), Planning & Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and Historical Resources Advisory Committee (HRAC).

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative experience.
  • Valid State of Texas Class C driver's license.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • May be required to pass a drug screen and/or pre-employment job performance assessment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing administrative duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Municipal or local government experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the City Secretary with records management, including maintaining, organizing, indexing, and retaining official City records in accordance with state records retention requirements.
  • Coordinate and process Public Information Act requests under the direction of the City Secretary, including gathering responsive documents, tracking deadlines, and maintaining request files.
  • Prepare, post, and distribute meeting agendas in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act for: Murphy Community Development Corporation/Murphy Municipal Development District (MCDC/MMDD) Planning & Zoning Commission Board of Adjustment Historical Resources Advisory Committee
  • Attend assigned board and commission meetings as required.
  • Record, prepare, proofread, and distribute accurate meeting minutes.
  • Maintain official records and supporting documents for assigned boards and commissions.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, prepare meeting packets, and distribute materials to board members and staff.
  • Assist with updating committee rosters, appointments, and terms of office.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries from staff and board member in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Assist with maintaining departmental files, forms, and databases.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
