About The Position

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Sr. Environmental Scientist to work with other experienced environmental professionals, licensed engineers, architects, surveyors and GIS/CAD technicians. In this role, qualified candidates will be engaged in project management, employee development, and client engagement through project delivery. The position will require a candidate to work collaboratively with a diverse team and have the capacity to balance varying priorities. Occasionally, there will be the need to lead site reviews with regulatory agencies and clients in relation to project planning and permitting reviews, with associated periodic travel.

Requirements

  • BS (MS preferred) in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Natural Resources, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of related environmental project management experience
  • Experience collecting GPS data and creating maps in ArcGIS Pro.
  • Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act, etc.)
  • Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment that can manage and contribute to several projects simultaneously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be willing to travel on short notice
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership to support environmental compliance services on various energy and utilities projects including telecom, renewable, and oil & gas projects.
  • Managing projects, tasks, and staff to support environmental compliance needs of our clients and engineering project managers.
  • Supervising, training, and mentoring of less experienced team members
  • Prioritizing and delegating project responsibilities while considering the development of less experienced team members
  • Completing proposals, estimating project budgets
  • Supporting field investigations to delineate and map wetlands, perform environmental compliance inspections, describe habitat, and report environmental conditions to design engineers
  • Researching and completing environmental permitting at the federal, state, and local levels
  • Composition, reviewing, and submitting a variety of regulatory documents including Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and Best Management Practice (BMP) Plans
  • Cultivating strong client relationships
  • Working with project teams, technical staff, and subcontractors
