About The Position

Parsons is looking for an Associate Scientist to join their team. In this role, you will apply your technical skills on complex environmental remediation projects. This position is part of the Critical Infrastructure team, which focuses on designing and delivering critical infrastructure that connects and protects communities. The team collaborates to plan, design, build, and modernize infrastructure, with a focus on projects that improve communities, enhance quality of life, promote economic growth, increase mobility, and boost sustainability and resiliency.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in a science curriculum related to the assigned discipline
0+ years of related work experience
Strong verbal and written communication including technical writing ability.
Data formatting, summarization, and visualization.
Understanding of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Clean driving record
Ability to work independently, outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions, typical of Midwest US.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in an environmental field preferred.
Prior experience with low-flow groundwater sampling methods preferred.
Current OSHA HAZWOPER certification a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform environmental monitoring and sampling of various media including but not limited to groundwater and soil.
Conduct light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) and hydrogeologic field investigations.
Operate, inspect, and troubleshoot various equipment for environmental remediation systems.
Collect site data, provide documentation for site activities, and prepare written reports.
Provide contractor oversight for construction and drilling projects.
Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary project team to execute field investigations and system optimization initiatives.
Expand expertise into areas such as contaminant fate and transport, remediation strategy and risk assessment, and project management.
