Vehicle Engineering Labs, Sr. Engineering Technician III
About The Position
The Vehicle Engineering Labs Engineering Technician supports the operations and maintenance of vehicle testing facilities. The role includes daily operations support and customer coordination, with a strong focus on continuously improving testing and maintenance processes. The technician supports installation, commissioning, and maintenance of testing facilities; develops and implements procedures that comply with environmental, health, and safety requirements; and installs instrumentation and test equipment on prototype vehicles. The position also provides operational and test execution support across multiple facilities and plans and executes preventive maintenance.
Requirements
- 2–5+ years of automotive- or aerospace-related testing experience.
- Experience with fabrication, wiring, and troubleshooting building control systems.
- A proven track record of problem-solving and independent root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to produce clear, organized, and timely documentation.
- Team-oriented mindset.
- Strong interest in automotive technology.
- Ability to work independently.
Nice To Haves
- Experience operating and maintaining climate chamber and chassis dynamometer facilities.
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with automotive and electrified powertrain vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of testing facilities.
- Develop, document, and implement testing and maintenance procedures in compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements.
- Install instrumentation, test equipment, and other components on prototype vehicles in accordance with engineering specifications, standards, and test procedures.
- Provide daily operational and test execution support across multiple facilities.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance activities.
