About The Position

Jabil is hiring a Sr. Engineering Services Engineer for its San Jose, California office. The role represents Jabil Engineering Services in technical customer discussions and meetings and collaborates with Project Managers and Lead Engineers during quoting. The engineer provides technical input to identify and resolve project risks that could affect plans and schedules, supports the development and use of design and VAVE processes, and prepares complete design packages for entry into the PDM system. Design packages include requirements and design documentation, databases, and bills of materials. The role also prepares customer VAVE proposals with detailed proposals, models, simulations, schematics, and bills of materials. The position participates in Engineering Services activities including design reviews and verification, supply-chain and supplier interaction, and transfer to design and manufacturing. It mentors Associate Engineers or Engineering Services Technicians and provides onsite technical support for manufacturing builds, including engineering prototypes, NPI, and production releases. The engineer is expected to stay current with technology and techniques to produce competitive, cost-effective designs. The position reports to the San Jose, California office. Telecommuting is permitted under company policy, provided the employee lives within commuting distance of that office. Domestic and international travel of 25% each is required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in electronics engineering or a related field, plus five years of experience in each of the stated skill areas; alternatively, a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in the aforementioned fields plus three years of experience in each stated skill area; or a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in the aforementioned fields and demonstrated proficiency in the stated skillset.
Experience drafting statements of work and design of experimentation (DOE) for planning and executing projects for internal and external customers.
Experience operating and programming SMT equipment, including MPM/DEK screen printers, Koh Young solder paste inspection, Fuji pick-and-place, and standard reflow ovens, and inspection equipment, including Vitrox automated optical inspection, standard 2D X-ray systems, and digital microscopes.
Experience using Altium for test board design, Fab3000 for assembly, and Solidworks for tooling design and fabrication.
Experience writing technical reports and Design-For-Manufacturing (DFM) documentation.
Must be willing to travel domestically 25% and internationally 25%.
Must live within commuting distance of the San Jose, California office.

Responsibilities

Represent Jabil Engineering Services in technical customer discussions and meetings.
Work with Project Managers and Lead Engineers in the quoting process.
Provide technical input to identify and solve project risks that may affect project plans and schedules.
Support development and utilization of processes for design and VAVE.
Prepare complete design packages for the PDM system, including requirements and design documentation, databases, and bills of materials.
Prepare complete VAVE proposals for customers, including detailed proposals, models, simulations, schematics, and bills of materials.
Participate in Engineering Services activities, including design reviews and verification, supply-chain and supplier interaction, and transfer to design and manufacturing.
Mentor Associate Engineers or Engineering Services Technicians.
Provide onsite technical support for manufacturing builds, including engineering prototypes, NPI, and production releases.
Stay abreast of technology and techniques to provide competitive, cost-effective designs.
