Cloud Infrastructure team, as part of the Apple Services Engineering team, is seeking an extraordinary engineering program manager (EPM) that can help our Traffic team deliver innovative product solutions that will shape the future of large scale infrastructure at Apple. We are building and supporting critical infrastructural systems and frameworks which provide and support services like load balancers, Traffic mesh, proxies for Apple Cloud Infrastructure, which is the platform upon which many iCloud and other backend systems at Apple are built. We're a fast paced organization with ambitious goals, a large user base, and the autonomy to build the future of Compute and Storage infrastructure for all of Apple. Teams across Apple rely on us for infrastructure that help them build services that scale globally, are highly available, and \"just work\". We listen to different perspectives, help surface innovative ideas, and drive decisions that move us forward. You'll need a strong background in program and project management complemented by your technical abilities. You'll partner with a diverse set of teams across Apple to provide them with groundbreaking infrastructure for Traffic that operate at substantial scale and use open source technologies along with proprietary systems.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in software development project management in Infrastructure domains preferably Traffic, networking or compute
  • Understanding of traffic management at scale at Layer 4 or 7 of the network OSI model
  • Experience managing projects with Layer-4 or Layer-7 traffic meshes (e.g., Envoy or Istio) and control plane technology
  • Experience managing Cloud and Infrastructure projects.
  • Agile project experience with evidence and able to demonstrate knowledge
  • BA/BS degree in a technical field or equivalent industry experience
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and technical acumen
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to represent at all levels of the organization

Nice To Haves

  • Prior engineering, infrastructure experience a plus
  • SCRUM background and/or played the role of a Scrum Master is plus
  • Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Deliver innovative product solutions that will shape the future of large scale infrastructure at Apple.
  • Build and support critical infrastructural systems and frameworks which provide and support services like load balancers, Traffic mesh, proxies for Apple Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Provide groundbreaking infrastructure for Traffic that operate at substantial scale and use open source technologies along with proprietary systems.
  • Prioritize features and technical road maps.
  • Deliver large scale infrastructure projects.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous end to end infrastructure, technical projects and stakeholder community comprising of various engineering teams and their partners.
  • Manage end to end project delivery; building roadmaps through to operational sustainability.
  • Facilitate requirements sessions, design meetings, progress and status meetings.
